Yes, We have CHANGED LOCATION from the hallowed Maritime Republic of Eastport over to Annapolis. We're gathering at Phillips Crab Deck on City Dock!
Although Green Drinks Annapolis has roots in the MRE (Like us, they are all about "Fun with a Purpose"), we felt it only fair to our friends at the MainStreet Annapolis Partnership, to bring our "Fun with a GREEN Purpose" over to the mainland!
Phillips, one of the most iconic seafood restaurants linked to the Bay, returned this past season to Annapolis as the "Crab Deck." It's a great space, great views, causal and fun ... we'll take over the deck and celebrate a wild last few weeks!
And our theme is "Holiday Gifts that Give Back." We want to showcase local, creative, "out of the box" Green gifts - from environmental non-profits, B-Corps, and Green for-profit companies. For the person who has everything ... or, if you're like us, always ending up getting a gift for ourselves while shopping for others! Whichever, it will make you feel good.
'Tis the Season for Sustainability!
Our exhibitors (so far) include: Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company,Clean Currents, The Cleaning Corps, National Wildlife Federation, Author Diane Holland, South River Federation, Oyster Recovery Partnership, and Urban Adventures. We've got room for a few more.
Shop Local
The Annapolis Business Association is planning November 24 as Shop Local Day -- and it will be rewards for shoppers in the form of gift cards and more. See below.
Last Month's Great Green Home - It's Still Open! The home is in the Preserve at Severn Run, in Gambrills, just off Route 3. It's just a short drive from Annapolis and well worth it a visit. It will be open to the public Thursdays through Sundays until November 17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and the proceeds benefit the two charities named above. Learn more and get directions on our website and don't forget to go downstairs to visit the Green Marketplace. We interviewed President Mike Baldwin on our last radio show. Click to listen and you'll want to come to Green Drinks and see it for yourself! Last night we were so proud to be awarded the New Initiative Award by the Four Rivers Heritage Area at a lovely ceremony at the Bates Legacy Center! We'll share the details with you in the next email.

Volunteers needed to teach kids about the environment!
The Museum, in partnership with Anne Arundel County Public Schools, NOAA, Chesapeake Bay Savers and Maryland's DNR, has launched its innovative 2012-2013 Oyster Environmental Literacy Program for 6th grade students from four area middle schools. What the Museum needs now is outgoing, enthusiastic and committed volunteers throughout the school year. Knowledge of oyster ecology is helpful, but not required because training will be provided for each session. The hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and you can choose from any number of dates. The Museum is asking volunteers who will commit at least five days within a five-week period.
Over the course of the school year, more than 1,000 sixth-graders will receive 20 hours of instruction in the classroom, at the Museum, and out on the water. The program examines human interaction with the environment, oyster ecology and industry, and the measurement and tracking oyster spat and water quality. As a volunteer you'll be proud to participate in Maryland's new, cutting-edge Environmental Literacy Initiative - and you'll add to your own knowledge about oysters and the Chesapeake Bay!
