Last winter I asked my four year old nephew to make some new scribbles in my sketchbook. It was interesting to see the type of scribbles he produced compared to my other nephew a few years back. His were much more structured. One was the whole pa
ge covered with a grid. Well it sat in my sketchbook until this winter when I finally started to doodle on it. It was super fun
to come up with different designs and textures in each square. I also
attempted to tie some of the squares together with doodles that passed through to the next. This spring I turned this doodle into a wall piece. The piece is 50"x34" and built with a wire armature. It wasn't until I was half way through with the piece that I decided it was a "Scribble Museum". I love all kinds of museums to be able to commemorate the magic of a museum in this piece was really meaningful. I even included drawings of bird bones that I drew at the Natural History Museum in Washington D.C. Another fun addition was the travel spoons that we found at a garage sale- they became part of one of the towers. There is a lot going on in this piece and every time I look at it even I see something new! I hope you will come by the studio during Art A Whirl and see what you can discover in my new pieces too!
