The first two weeks of our Holiday Shop have been really fun!  We love to see the reactions to our new work.  People have been especially drawn to Josh's wall of Cosmic Clouds Tiles.  This year he hung a grouping of varying sizes of tiles.  These really give you an idea of how versatile Cosmic Clouds are and how much fun you can have arranging them on your wall whether you have a large amount of space or just a little nook to fill.

If you are in the downtown Minneapolis skyways any time in November or December we hope you will stop in and see the stunning selection of ceramic and polymer clay work we have on view.  And maybe even find some great one of a kind, handmade gifts for your family and YOU! We are located at 555 Nicollet Mall on the 2nd floor in the Skyway. It is call Gaviidae Commons.

Tile Project of the Month

Classic Subway Bathroom

Subway tiles were all the rage in the turn of the 20th Century and have come back in the turn of the 21st Century. Classic white 2x8" in our Marshmallow is really sharp. We made all of the tiles from the floor 1" x 2" herringbone, the shoe base, subway tiles, and cap, all in Marshmallow. We worked with architect Paul Orsmeth. Photography by Rolf Hagberg.  Click here to see all the pictures.

In the Studio
Josh has been trying to take more photos and posting them on facebook of the process to show how his tiles are made. This tile is a great example of how loose he has to work to get the forms he wants. It can look very uncontrolled but lots of experience to know what glazes react with each other and try to create reactions and design took years to develop. Follow the process it is fun click here
Liquid glass before firing in the kiln and the effects of 1922 degrees of heat will create in that environment.
