You know the old adage "April showers bring May flowers". We've put a new twist on it and our April specials will bring May beauty. Check out our special offers below and look and feel better this spring. Don't forget, Mother's Day is just around the corner.

April looks to be a busy month for us. I'm headed to Zambia soon for my fourth cleft lip and palate mission trip to Lusaka. I am so excited to join Dr. Clawson and our friends and colleagues at Beit CURE hospital in Lusaka, Zambia. Oh, and I might be a little more excited this year as my oldest daughter, and favorite photographer will be joining us as well.

We'll have a Safari Sendoff Event just before I head over to Zambia for a cleft lip mission trip. April seems African-themed, so  our second quarter charity will be Water Africa, benefiting the people of Zambia with bore holes for clean water. Water Africa was founded by my friends and neighbors, Bill and Diane Savage, after they witnessed first hand the devastation of dirty water on the health and education of Zambian villagers. Since 2005, they've raised over $1,000,000 to provide clean water and sanitation to the people of Zambia. Click here to read more about their story. We are helping to sponsor their upcoming Walk 4 Water 7 on Saturday April 12th in Lake Oswego. It is a fun event and fundraiser for all ages, benefiting villages in Zambia by supplying life changing clean water and hygiene instruction. Check out the Water Africa website for more details.

Zambia Mission Trip
Preop cleft lip

I am really excited for this particular trip as it brings five non-profits that I love to support together into one trip. First, I'll be doing cleft lip and palate surgery as part of Dr. Clawson's foundation. Second, we are operating at a CURE hospital. CURE has ten hospitals around the world, providing life-changing surgery to children with

congenital deformities. Third, friends and acquaintances with World Vision are helping spread the word about our cleft lip and surgery clinic and also they have provided transportation to bring
some children from very distant villages in order that they might have the surgery. And fourth, my daughter is bringing soccer balls to distribute on behalf of One World Futbol, a non profit
Trading balls in Zanzibar
that distributes nearly indestructible soccer balls to disadvantaged communities where play and sport are used to foster social change. Our  fifth non profit, Water Africa, is our second quarter charity. You may enjoy participating in this family friendly event, the 7th annual
Zambian woman collecting "drinking water" prior to her village getting a bore hole
Walk for Water on Saturday April 12th. Our office is helping sponsor the event to raise money to put clean water bore hole wells in Zambia. Follow this link for details.

I am a strong believer in community service and these are examples of the types of organizations I like to support. I am so excited that they are all coming together in this one trip! If I had tried, I couldn't have planned this. It just happened. I'll look forward to sharing my stories with you when I return.
