What's Inside:

Growing Your Yoga

Whew! It seems like so much has changed in the last several months - I can hardly keep up!

Change, not only in the studio, but in everything. We have several teachers who have recently moved on and in my personal life too, I am undergoing big changes - letting go of things that have been a part of my life for a long time.

It is all so fall like. Many things are falling away. Like leaves - past experiences, loves and losses act as compost to nurture the soil for the new growth to come. But I am very aware of the necessity of slowing down and letting life settle before deciding what new to plant.

And so while we are bringing in a few new things, new teachers and new class names; we are also letting some things, like the Thursday evening class time, sit dormant for a bit.
Again, personally, while I have made some big changes, I am very drawn to taking more time to simply settle in, be quiet and see what might emerge if given the space to do so. In the place of letting go and not filling up the space of loss and change, I am aware of how much the things that have not changed are helping me to stay grounded and to feel supported. For these things, I feel deep appreciation.

Here is a list of what I am grateful for right now... [Visit the blog to keep reading...]

Growing Your Yoga
Practice Slowing Down by Lynn Morrison

Happy Fall to each of you! I have been so inspired by the colors this past week. They draw me into the present moment. I love looking up at the migrating birds and also hearing the birds outside the studio in the evening.  I love the fall and I feel grateful for the permission nature grants me to slow down.

The increased darkness is a wonderful time of year to practice pranayama and meditation. You don't need a complicated practice. But to rise in the morning and take 10-20 minutes to practice simple pranayama and then sit, can be very powerful.

Our Immersion Program is Changing?

That's right! This year, we're switching over to a 4 month immersion, which will include 4 full weekends of intensive yoga study.

You'll get a deeper grounding in anatomy, support for developing a more personalized home practice program and take a deeper look at how to integrate yoga more fully into your life. Teacher training students complete the immersion, then continue on through the year to receive more specific information about the art and science of teaching.

If you've thought about teaching or if the immersion program is really calling to you for this coming year, be sure to sign up for our last info session of the year happening on Thursday, December 4th

Meet Our Prenatal Teacher

Earlier this fall, we introduced you to Amarylis Morrow. This month, we wanted to highlight her and her current and upcoming offerings here at the studio.

Amarylis' prenatal classes are geared toward women in all stages of pregnancy and are great no matter your experience level. Moms-to-be can look forward to an experience that alleviates many of the common discomforts of pregnancy and helps build courage, strength, peace and harmony in preparation for birth and motherhood.

In the new year she has plans to begin offering a weekly mom & baby class, as well as a monthly "Mother Nurture Night" -- because what mom doesn't need some designated time to de-stress, really?  Look out for more info, times and dates for these classes coming soon.

Prenatal yoga can also be a wonderful gift for the expectant mother in your life. If the timing's right, why not get her a gift certificate to put toward some prenatal classes or another one of our mama offerings in the new year?

Check out the offer at the bottom of this newsletter to take 25% off your gift certificate purchase this holiday season.

Oregon Food Bank

According to Oregon Food Bank's website, 270,000 people per month eat meals from emergency food boxes delivered throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. 92,000 of these are children. Since the beginning of the recession in 2008, food box distribution has increased 41%. These are startling numbers that demonstrate the ever-present need for food donations year round -- not just around the holidays.

You can do your part to help eliminate hunger in our community by joining us for Thanksgiving Day Yoga. Leslie will offer her yearly donation-based class that morning -- in the spirit of giving and gratitude, please plan to bring a donation of non-perishable food.

Can't make it to class on Thanksgiving but still want to donate? We'll have a bin available in our lobby through the entire month of November, so you may drop items workshopsoff at any time!
