February 13th - Postcards from India: Week 3
Over the past week, Leslie and Kayci have visited among other places, Sarnath- a place of significance for Buddhists located just to the north east of the holy city of Varanasi. Buddha came here to preach his message about the path to Nirvana. The colorful image above depicting the Buddha above comes from an actual painting inside this temple.

They were also lucky enough to attend Kumbh Mela, deemed the largest religious gathering on earth which occurs every 12 years in one of the country's oldest cities, Allahabad. People come to this event from all over the world to take a cleansing dip at the "Sangam" or the convergence of the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers.

Also of note, they paid a visit to
Raj Ghat, the memorial to Mahatma Ghandi in Delhi. This site includes a museum and monument that rests on the spot where Ghandi was assassinated during prayer in 1948.
