Growing Your Yoga
Transitions- Kayci Cavenah
As the dark, cold, winter days begin to yield to longer, warmer days, it seems that the budding of spring is just around the corner. This changing of the seasons makes me think about transitions. How is it that some changes come easily, we may even be eager for them, and others bring resistance, procrastination, perhaps even fear? Intellectually, these changes, or transitions, are simply a shift, a movement away from one thing and towards another, but often that movement can feel like a very bumpy ride. So how can we approach the little and big changes of life so that we can enter them mindfully and execute them gracefully? Read on...
You can take a class with Kayci at the following times: Sundays- Prenatal at 3:00pm and Level 1 at 4:30pm Tuesdays- Level 2 from 5:45-7:15 and Level 1 from 7:30-8:45pm

Meet Our Newest HeartSong Teacher, Toby Shulruff
We are so pleased to introduce you to our newest HeartSong Teacher, Toby Shulruff! Toby is a long-time HeartSong student who graduated from our teacher training program in 2012.
Toby is now teaching Gentle Yoga on Thursdays at 4 pm.
One of the things we love about her, which fits in well with our studio philosophy is that she is very passionate about making yoga accessible to all students. "I was drawn to HeartSong's yoga teacher training program because too many friends and relatives, including my mom and mother-in-law, had hurt themselves in "Gentle" yoga classes", she told us, "and I believe that everyone, with the body they have right now, should be able to have access to the benefits of yoga."
Fun facts about Toby:
- She moved to Beaverton in the fall of 2011 with her husabnd, Jim, who works for New Seasons
- They have a two and a half year old son named Asher
- She grew up outside of Sedona, AZ and Aspen, CO, but has been a resident of the Northwest for 20 years
- After working since 1997 to end violence against women, she felt moved to become a yoga teacher to help create positive change in the world, and be more in her own body in her work
We are thrilled to have Toby on board and we hope you'll come check out her class so you can meet her, too!

Resource Center
Call for Videographer
This month, instead of providing a resource, we are in need of one and we are turning to you, our lovely yoga community for help!
Do you or someone you know have experience filming and editing video? Do you own or have access to a good quality digital camera, possibly some sound and lighting equipment, a computer with video editing software and the education/experience/skill set necessary to produce a professional looking finished product that we could proudly display on the Heartsong Yoga website?
What We're Doing: turning a long-pondered idea to create some studio videos into a reality. We have a few ideas in mind and the videos would be short-- (5 min. or less)
Who We're Looking to Work With: This would be a great opportunity for a college student looking to build their portfolio, someone who does this for a living, loves yoga and would like to help our studio out with some pro-bono work -- or, someone who otherwise has experience doing video shoots with some post-production (adding title text, music) involved.
Compensation: This would be a volunteer gig, but we could talk about offering a trade for some yoga classes.
If this is you or you know of someone who might like to help with this, please email Kasey with a note about your background, experience and some examples of past work. (No phone calls, please.)
