January 15th - Traveling to the Birthplace of Yoga
|
Over the next four weeks, Leslie and Kayci will be traveling through India, as many of you have heard by now. Their itinerary will include excursions to places of significance to Paramahansa Yogananda, one of the great teachers to initially bring yoga to the western world and the author of one of modern yoga's earliest and most central pieces of literature, Autobiography of a Yogi.
Here is what Kayci says about why she loves India and keeps going back:
"Ever wonder where you've come from? Or where you belong? For me, India has been a fascination since my early childhood. As a child, seeing pictures of India, the architecture and the people, thrilled me to my bones. Without knowing why, I thought it was the most exotic place in the world. Later, after my first month-long, mind-blowing experience of India, I knew it was the most exotic place in the world and more than that...I realized that it's the one place on this planet where I feel completely at home. There's definitely more to the story but that's why I keep going back to India. It's in my blood. I've been there about 10 times and at one point considered living there for an extended period. That may not happen but whenever I have the opportunity, I'll go back for another "booster" of my beloved India. It's always on my mind and in my heart and I'm always just a little homesick when I'm not there."
For Leslie, this is a first trip to India. She says:
"I love to travel and have been many places in the world but none to which I have felt so called to and deeply curious about. India is the birthplace of yoga and I am thrilled to have this opportunity to experience the culture, learn more about the history and soak in the spirit at the headwaters of this practice that I love. I look forward to sharing it with you on our return!!"
We are very excited to be able to share some of their journey with you as it is happening. Stay tuned for more travel updates, blog posts and photos in our upcoming weekly e-newsletters!
