 Happy Now Year!
Atha Yoganusanam. Patanjali begins the Yoga Sutra like this. Now Yoga. Is he saying, "Now we commence the study of yoga."? "Now I will talk about yoga."? "Now is the time for yoga."? "Now we are doing yoga."? Yes. Now.
Now it is 2013 and we are still studying, exploring, aspiring to understand what it is to right now, be unified in mind, body and spirit. To be one with ourselves and the world.
So I say for 2013, let's (once again!) say "Now Yoga. Now Life". Let's talk about, contemplate, experience life and how to make it the life we truly, in our heart of hearts, want and are here to enjoy.
Now.

Growing Your Yoga
Restore Your Vitality by Jeff Amram
While driving to class not too long ago, I heard an ad on the radio that was at first amusing, and then upon further review was slightly disturbing. The ad was for a 5-hour energy drink currently on the market. The ad states, and I'm paraphrasing here, "take 5 hour energy drink for that 2:30 feeling when you need to get more stuff done!" It was not the first time I had heard or seen an ad for this product, but on this particular day, in the midst of the holiday crunch when I was looking all around me and seeing a lot of tired, stressed faces, it got me thinking a little more about the conflict that exists between what the rhythms of nature are asking us to do at this time of year - do less and go more internal - and what our culture in general promotes throughout the year - do more, and for your convenience, here's a quick fix that will help you to that end. No secret here that I believe a more mindful, and gentle approach to restoring your vitality is available to us at any time during the day without the use of external stimulants. With that, I invite you to consider some simple suggestions that you can do even while at work to help find balance between maintaining life's responsibilities and honoring your body's need for rest and rejuvenation. 2012 Yoga Teacher Training Graduates
The end of the year brings the close of another year of yoga teacher training at HeartSong Yoga! Though there is always a bit of sadness as a group study like this comes to a close, we are so very excited for these new teachers as they move out into the world to serve! And watch in some of our classes as several of these teachers enter the next stage of their training by joining us in our teacher mentoring program!
This Saturday, January 5th marks the start of our 2013 training, and we are excited to welcome in our new students. We feel blessed to be able to offer this program and are greatly looking forward to witnessing the growth, learning and self-discovery that awaits for everyone involved in the coming year.
