State of St. Louis STEM Workforce Photo GallerySTLCC's Workforce Solutions Group presented the State of St. Louis STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Workforce Report to 400 gathered business and community leaders at the annual research unveiling event held this year on September 10 at the Forest Park campus.
A panel of distinguished corporate executives from Emerson, USA KWS Gateway Research Center, World Wide Technologies and the MO Chamber of Commerce and Industry provided a robust discussion of key findings from the regional survey of 500+ employers in STEM related industries.
State of St. Louis STEM Workforce Report The Workforce Solutions Group's four page infographic summary of the State of St. Louis STEM Workforce 2014 is divided into the five clusters:
  • Why STEM?
  • Finding the Right Skills
  • Finding the Right People
  • STEM Pays
  • Employer Outlook
These different clusters highlight research results such as:
  • In 2013 there were over 23,000 STEM job ads in the region, yet just over 2,000 jobseekers were looking for employment in those occupations.
  • Employment in STEM occupations is projected to grow at a higher rate than non-STEM occupations, with even more growth in the St. Louis region than the state as a whole.
  • There is a large gap between mean wages for STEM and non-STEM occupations. The mean wage for STEM occupations in St. Louis is $79,290 compared to $44,294 for non-STEM jobs.
Hazelwood Continues Commitment to Leadership Development
Hazelwood Continues Commitment to Leadership Development Eighteen administrators from the Hazelwood School District recently participated in an all-day leadership training program facilitated by Barry Schapiro, Practice Leader for Leadership and Professional Development.
The program was designed as part refresher for the series of modules this group completed in 2013-2014, with additional new content in the area of building and sustaining trust among managers/supervisors and front-line employees.
Contact Barry Schapiro to learn more about customized leadership development training and consulting.
Cardinal Health Systems Lean Leadership Program "The techniques we learned in the Lean Leadership Certification Program really work! I've used them and I see more people wanting to be real contributors to the success of the department and a whole lot less of 'what's in it for me.'"
Since its launch in 2007, hundreds of St. Louis region managers and supervisors have earned their Lean Leadership Certificate and have seen a tangible, immediate and positive impact on their ability to communicate with line workers about Lean as expressed above by a recent program graduate.
Pictured are recent Lean Leadership Certificate graduates from Cardinal Health.
