Mia will be in the states and seeing clients on May 21, 24, and June 6th!! She has just a few openings still available, so do go and schedule immediately.
Laura has a few openings Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoons and evenings after June 1st.
Amelia has a couple of openings Monday - Thursday next week and forward.
Lynne has limited openings Thursday and Friday mornings May 31st and forward.
Shelby has openings on Wednesday and Friday during the day and on Thursday afternoon and evening starting this week.

Greetings!
This is a graduation celebration newsletter it seems! We want to take a moment to congratulate those who have completed a course of education and are graduating this spring, as well as honor all the teachers and families who supported them in getting there!
We also want to point the headache sufferers in our midst to some relief that has been validated by a new study.
Let us give Mia a resounding welcome home! She is going to be in town as two of her children graduate, Sean from High School and Sydney with her Masters from Univ. of MD. Congratulations! Mia has set aside some time to join us here at Alchemy and see clients. Many have already booked. If you are interested, we recommend booking right away. She is a marvelous therapist.
With Lynne and Shelby settling in and getting rave reviews, we now offer more great massage as well as reflexology and hot stone sessions.
We are offering a special on Shelby's Hot Stone and 90-minute Therapeutic Massage sessions, read on for the details. What a perfect gift for a graduate or their mother!
Our final news is a congratulations to Laura. Next week she will graduate from UMBC, Summa Cum Laude. She has earned her key from Phi Beta Kappa and was inducted into the Lambda Alpha Anthropology honor society as well. Laura originally stepped onto this path to earn an Anthropology degree, while she completed her Pre-Med requirements, on her path to becoming a Naturopathic Doctor. For the time being, Laura is going to stay on this side of the country and focus on advancing her training in CranioSacral and Visceral Therapy as we build Alchemy Healing Arts Center.
A practical graduation note also. Please remember that next week is Commissioning Week in Annapolis, when we celebrate all the Naval Academy Graduates. West Annapolis is right next door to the stadium, and we see a lot of extra traffic - so give yourself a bit of extra time!

Welcome our new therapists to Alchemy  Lynne Brummitt, MA, LMT, is a seasoned massage therapist with fifteen years of experience. She is also a professor and the Coordinator of Anne Arundel Community College's Therapeutic Massage program. In addition to being well qualified in Swedish and Deep Tissue massage, Lynne is also certified in Reflexology, and is taking Orthopedic Massage training. Shelby Smith, LMT is a second generation massage therapist who graduated from AACC in 2011. She is a bright and cheerful person with a big heart. While Shelby is quite able and happy to focus on stress reduction and relaxation, she often finds that she cannot resist working a bit deeper on the spots that need attention. She has great intuition and combines good skills with good touch. In addition to Swedish and Deep Tissue massage, Shelby also brings Hot Stone Therapy to Alchemy. The filling and emptying of the lungs is expansive of its own accord, and the motion interacts with your holding patterns, moods, activities, and overall health.
Your lungs, those fluttering butterfly wings of your heart, shape your other organs as well, living as they do in the tidal ebb and flow of your breath waves lapping at those visceral shores.
Your breath has the power to fill you with energy as well, charging and brightening the light of you shining in this mortal form.
If ever you are "jonesing" for a delicious treat, try a few deep breaths freely drawn.

Lymphedema Treatment and Education

Laura Inman Mitchell and Amelia Mitchell recently received the news that they had met all of the requirements and, we are proud to announce, that they are now certified in Lymphedema treatment and education. Thus, they will begin sporting some additional letters after their names: LLCC.
Complex Decongestive Therapy is the treatment for Lymphedema. It includes Lymph Drainage Therapy, compression and bandaging, education, and exercise.
At Alchemy, while we can provide the complete therapy, our focus is working with people who have mild Lymphedema or who are at risk of developing the disease. Although there are a number of ways that it can manifest, what we see the most in Annapolis are women who have lost lymph nodes during surgery for breast cancer. In this situation a woman will be at risk of developing Lymphedema for the rest of her life. As certified therapists, even if we are simply providing massage, we can do it in a way that protects the body and does not increase risk. We also welcome the opportunity to provide the education and work directly using Lymph Drainage Therapy with those who are affected.
Amelia and Laura are compassionate, informed, and well-trained therapists. They have direct experience of this disease, and are happy to consult and discuss therapy options. If you, or someone you care about is living with Lymphedema or is at risk, please make a connection with Amelia or Laura.

With this expansion, we have taken on a name that embraces our vision and goals for the center. We have illustrated this with our tree logo, drawn especially for us by a talented artist in England. Our tree has roots -- is grounded and connected to both the earth and up to the heavens. Then owl showed up with all its wisdom.
