Four stories from Evolve people who joined in
the Prayer Walk in the Clay Street, Annapolis area on Sunday, August 9:

A couple of weeks ago, I read about prayer walks that were being offered in Annapolis neighborhoods. While I felt this action called to me, I was a bit apprehensive as I drove to Inner West Street after Evolve's sacred celebration this past Sunday evening. My fear was neither about my personal safety nor concerns about who I'd meet on the streets. It was the praying I was worried about.

For me, what I call prayer is a combination of two things: a running conversation with the Divine (often in shorthand) and a sending out of concentrated love. How would that translate should I be asked to pray out loud spontaneously? Not too well, I'm guessing, which is somewhat amusing since I'm not very reticent in flapping my gums any other time. As it turned out, what I did was basically a walking meditation, sending love out to the neighborhood while trailing after the two other members of my group.

While my group walked and spoke to folks, other small groups were strolling adjacent streets greeting, meeting, praying, too. It was an evening of opened eyes, friendships begun, positive affirmations, fears conquered, love shared.

Doing the Sunday night Prayer Walk was certainly a great new experience.  The people we met and talked with seem to be genuinely appreciative that we were there and grateful for help and prayers.  It was also touching to hear their stories and see where they live.

I am not one to walk parts of Annapolis because of what I have heard.  Walking around Clay Street, I discovered the beauty of the area itself.  The people were enjoying the Gospel music coming up the street and children were doing one-wheelers.  It was a neighborhood like any other.  If I could, I would return just to take photos of the new and old combining.  I'm glad I got to see the beauty of the Clay street area and the spirit of the music added to the experience!

As we walked the streets, people took note that we were not from the neighborhood, but everyone we met was very welcoming.  I find myself often remembering a certain woman who, when she found out why we were there, drew us all into a circle of prayer as she poured out her feelings about being ravaged by the disease of cancer, both herself and her family and her best friend and neighbor.

Is Not Going To War Important To You?   - from the Editor

Please contact your Congressmen and women to urge them to support the Iran Nuclear Deal.  Choose peace, not war!

After many long, hard months of diplomacy, the United States, United Kingdom, France, China, Russia, Germany and the European Union have

achieved a long-term comprehensive nuclear deal with Iran that will verifiably prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and ensure that Iran's

nuclear program will be exclusively peaceful going forward. The United Nations Security Council also has approved this agreement.  I feel it is very

important right now to show our support for this Deal. Later may be too late!
