UCCA Sanctuary: shadow of the window cross on the ceiling.
From Erine:

Funny how seeing the shadow reminds me of our community, and I see no difference in God's hands being a force, but only if you stop and see the beauty in the shadow. We are all God's children!

Is Not Going To War Important To You?   - from the Editor

Please contact your Congressmen and women to urge them to support the Iran Nuclear Deal.  Choose peace, not war!

After many long, hard months of diplomacy, the United States, United Kingdom, France, China, Russia, Germany and the European Union have

achieved a long-term comprehensive nuclear deal with Iran that will verifiably prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and ensure that Iran's

nuclear program will be exclusively peaceful going forward. The United Nations Security Council also has approved this agreement.  I feel it is very

important right now to show our support for this Deal. Later may be too late!

My Dayspring Retreat Experience:
"The Mystical Words of Jesus: Praying the Beatitudes in Aramaic."- Sylvia Oliva

On the winding, wooded road up into Dayspring, I was stopped and greeted by a wee chipmunk, and then by the smiling face of a fellow retreatant driving by.  As I was calmed and quieted by the peace and familiarity of this holy place and its natural, breathtaking beauty, I happily looked forward to spending the weekend with eleven other people steeped in silence and nature and the Divine.

Friday dinner was a joy in getting to know each other a bit before the silent part began. Then an introduction into the Beatitudes, in their English translation, then back into various translations in Jesus's native tongue.  And what depths of meaning we discovered in that!  We mostly used the book "Prayers of the Cosmos" by Neil Douglas-Klotz--yes he's the one whose translation of The Lord's Prayer we use sometimes at our Sacred Gatherings!  Our retreat leader, Connie Ridgway taught us how to chant some of the words in Aramaic.  We were also encouraged to be aware as we breathe in and breathe out, that we are "breathing the one breath of the Universe" (Hildegarde of Bingen).  The session closed with a brief time of silent meditation.

Saturday there were two more sessions with Connie on the Beatitudes and lots of time on our own.  Then just before lunch on Sunday we had a deep sharing of our spiritual journeys and a Eucharist which was so similar to our Sacred Gatherings!

Excitement to discover that so many of my retreat-friends were living and breathing Creation Spirituality! The future of Church is in spiritual practice that makes us better human beings, not so much in conforming to a creed or religious traditions that don't speak to us today.  Excitement to discover more deeply the person of Jeshua, especially in his prayer and in his teaching in the Beatitudes how blessed we are, each of us, in our own needy, searching, sometimes dislocated and confused, human way.

Here's one example of the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:6.

English (King James Version):
Aramaic:
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst
after righteousness; for they shall be filled.

Aligned with the One are those who wait up at night, weakened and dried out inside by the unnatural state of the world; they shall be satisfied.
