"Christianity is not about closed minds, supernatural interventions,

a fallen creation, guilt, original sin or divine rescue.

I believe it's about expanded life, heightened consciousness and achieving a new humanity."

"The nature of the Divine Presence is to give.
As the sun gives light and warmth,
as the plants give foliage, fruits, roots in abundance,
so the Presence gives life to us, and death, too."
- Francis Hole

A Serious Frivolity

Savoring the substance
of existence
is a serious
frivolity.
Someone must do it.

Someone must love
luminous hours when leaves
marry light and refuse
to stop
shining.

Someone must speak
the sweetness
of lilacs
before it is lost
beneath smog.

Someone must bask
in the beauty of blessing
because the news knows only
brokenness.

When you give yourself
to a particular place
the power
and peace
of that place
give themselves
through you.

So savoring the substance
of existence
is a serious frivolity.
Someone must do it.

Will that someone
be you?

:
Two Actions for Justice re: Cove Point Proposed LNG Facility  Sponsored by Interfaith Power & Light

               1.  Saturday, May 30, 9am:
           rally
and march followed by
           picnic.
Despite a massive public outcry, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has not been
deterred from approving plans for the building of the liquified natural gas export facility at Cove Point. Environmental groups have now filed a lawsuit against FERC for its inadequate environmental assessment.

"For the sake of families in Calvert County facing an industrial behemoth in their neighborhood; for the sake of those all along the East Coast who are trying to protect water supplies from fracking; and for the sake of all of our neighbors around the world already suffering from a disrupted climate... We're going to do what David did: we're going to stand up faithfully, and encourage each other to take heart." - Karen Leu of Interfaith Power & Light

Join the rally and march with local and regional allies on May 30 in opposition to the building of this facility. Gathering at 9 am at Solomons Island, we will begin the 6-mile march at 9:30 and end at Cove Point Park at 1 pm for a free family-friendly picnic.  Public parking lot at the corner of Alexander St & Calvert St, Solomons, MD.  Please RSVP for the march and picnic so we know how much food to prepare! Offer or find a carpool here.

2.  Wednesday, June 27, 10am - 2pm at 888 First St NE, Washington, DC (Short walk from Union Station Metro):  Demonstration and vigil to bring moral witness to FERC!
On June 27 we'll join with people of faith who are standing in solidarity with
frontline communities who have been directly impacted by FERC-approved projects. At 10am we'll gather at the FERC office in D.C. for an interfaith vigil with periods of silent witness and singing. Together we'll bring moral clarity to
the danger of fossil fuels and urge FERC to transform itself so that it can help shift our country to clean, renewable energy.  For questions, email Karen at  karen@gwipl.org.

Starting over is like...like trying to put together a Picasso painting. The things are not placed correctly, and you can't figure what needs to go where.  You try to make sense of your life and are always looking for that one piece.  That one piece or pieces changes everything in a flash.  It changes how you view someone or a group of people.

This month, I have gone from the pain of sickness and death to a gay wedding, moving, and a job interview.  I have screamed, cried, reflected, and...feeling like a Picasso painting.  Whatever I have in store I cannot say, but starting over is like...  This puzzle has no solution but that's what the thrill is.  Our journey has no "real" end.
