A Message from Suzie

In the last week or so, I have been asked about the future of Evolve. I try not to give a puzzled look before I answer this question with the answer "We go on!" For having been given the inspiration and tools to do so, how would we not? How could one so easily relinquish a community of journeyers whose commonality is the sharing of God's love in all its guises?

Yes, we grieve the death of our beloved pastor and friend, Wayne Schwandt, and will certainly continue to do so. However, in honor of him, of each other, of ourselves, of the Divine, the Evolve community will continue to explore, celebrate, and share our all embracing paths of the Creator.

From Erine
A Wayne-sized crack in my heart and how the light is coming through!   It's reminding me that I need to look inside and see... One day I lay on the bare grass just to see with my senses and not my eyes. It was like my spirit was giving the Earth LOVE. I was finally seeing without seeing, although I looked before. My mind traveled to "Home is where the heart is" and "My heart is with you." I knew my place was there without shoes and lying on the grass.

So as the days continue to pass, I have come to understand too much. I understand that the smallest of blessings are the greatest sometimes and you don't realize it.  Pay attention to that silly moment, laugh at that joke, try that new dish, and swing on a swing. If you see me enjoying myself, I know it is a blessing that this moment is possible.

I can't count the times these small blessings have become a smile when... I hope I can continue using them as a tool to open heart and mind, seeing the Earth as a place of LOVE, JUSTICE, and PEACE. Light shine through... I'm learning!!!

Encounter

                             by Bill Mitchell

I know my woods. I love my woods. I walk in my woods almost every day and sometimes many times in one day. Even though I have arranged a few things, and planted a few things, I have left the woods pretty much a virgin. My purpose in this has been to attract wildlife. Even though this has been the objective it is rare for me to encounter an animal like a turtle. In fact, in the five years I have been nurturing this wood I have only seen a box turtle one other time before this day.

So, On the day of Wayne's passing I walked in the woods thinking of him and his spirituality and his being; when suddenly, startlinglingly, I looked up from my meditation and saw a perfectly blended box turtle peering at me warily as he stood very still, half poking his head out of his shell.

I welcomed this fellow being and thanked it for being there and allowing itself to be seen by me.

I praised it and said Hallelujah! I felt honored and blessed and privileged to have this fellow creature in my presence. We had nothing to fear from one another.

I took a few pictures without touching my visitor. After we stared at one another for about 15 minutes, during which time the turtle did not move, I left for a very few minutes and when I returned the turtle was gone and no where to be found.

I thought: Was that Wayne's spirit? If so then it was a highly placed honor for me. Our meeting was brief but meaningful and pleasant and good.

To me that is what Wayne's life was about. May God bless his fine spirit and manifest the majesty of the Creator through him. Amen.

Bill

Cove Point March on May 30, 2015

Despite a massive public outcry, The
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has not been deterred from approving plans for the building of the liquified natural gas export facility at Cove Point.  Environmental groups
have now filed a lawsuit against FERC for its inadequate environmental assessment.

"For the sake of families in Calvert County facing an industrial behemoth in their neighborhood; for the sake of those all along the East Coast who are trying to protect water supplies from fracking; and for the sake of all of our neighbors around the world already suffering from a disrupted climate... We're going to do what David did: we're going to stand up faithfully, and encourage each other to take heart." - quoted from Karen Leu of Interfaith Power & Light

Join the rally and march with local and regional allies on May 30 in opposition to the building of this facility. Gathering at 9 am at Solomons Island, we will begin marching the 6-mile march at 9:30, and end at Cove Point Park at 1 pm for a free family-friendly picnic.

Saturday, May 30
Rally at 9 AM
Public parking lot at the corner of Alexander St & Calvert St, Solomons, MD

Please RSVP for the march and picnic so we know how much food to prepare! Offer or find a carpool here. Then, share the event on Facebook!
