People's Climate March, September 21 in New York
 | |
This generation too has a rendezvous with destiny!
|
The People's Climate March was not meant to be a single event but a continuing, growing, unstoppable movement. Many diverse organizations put together a little history and background on the march and the movement, highlighting the pervasive impacts of climate change right now and into the future. It touches all of life, beginning with the poorest and most vulnerable among us. It helps us understand that if we are bystanders then we are also perpetrators. This video comes from the Environmental Defense Fund's Climate Action Center. I recommend it to you. View it by clicking on the following: "Climate Action Now!" to reach their webpage, and scrolling down to the 3rd section or block to watch "DISRUPTION." - Sylvia Oliva
(Note: On the webpage do not click on "3. Watch Disruption, a feature film on climate change" at the top but scroll down for it.)

ALCOHOL AND DRUG ADDICTION TREATMENT AT HOPE HOUSE
"Your New Life is Dawning"
BY JAMES GOINES, DIRECTOR OF TREATMENT
The Annapolis area has experienced a big increase in Heroin overdoses and the need for treatment of people addicted to drugs or alcohol is still growing. Mr. Goines, Director of the treatment program at Hope House in Crownsville, will talk about what the treatment program there is like. He will tell us about detoxification, inpatient and outpatient treatment as well as the DWI/DUI program, family education and community involvement available there.
Join us if your are interested in learning about what can be done for someone who is addicted. You can share this information with others and maybe help someone get the help they need.
Everyone is welcome. Time for discussion will be provided. Refreshments will be served. Free. For further information or directions, contact Liz at lizvh@comcast.net or at 410-267-9009.
