Rabbi Jesus Book Group will hold its final session on September 14
From Chapter Twelve of Rabbi Jesus, An
Intimate Biography by Bruce Chilton:

"Love for a neighbor--even a neighbor who hated Jesus--was joined in his [Jesus's] meditative experience with the love he felt coming from his Abba.  He linked a loving heart to the transformed society Zechariah had predicted, Israel and the nations joined and numinous with compassion.  His words point the way to the transcendence that individual suffering can achieve, a transcendence that for him was always linked to the communal body of all those who take on the meaning and the practice of sacrifice.  Jesus, like Buddha, saw that we are all intimately connected--what we do to others we do to ourselves, in actions rich with future consequences."

THE PANTRY SHELVES ARE EMPTY!  Please bring
a food staple to any food bank you can because the needs are great at this time.  Or bring along a food staple or personal care product when you come to Sacred Gathering, and they will be collected for our usual food bank.

From Erine
The Art of Listening

What is listening?  It is a question
that comes up every start of the school year.  Some people would say that doesn't apply to them as they're not in childcare, my field of work, but they interact with people, so it does.  Listening is a multi-dimension skill and too many people forget that.  It is important to understand the language of listening and I am as guilty as anyone for missing the language.  Physical listening is when you see the need to break through or back off, or perhaps a combination.  Spiritual listening is when you feel the energy. Emotional listening is when you feel in the heart.  The last I will address is the written or spoken, as they are the opening but too many people don't listen all around.  Stop and think, just stop and think...most importantly:  listen!

PS: Thanks for listening, Evolve Chesapeake...LOVE YOU!!!

From the On Being eNewsletter of June 6, 2014
Trent Gilliss sends a message about being rooted in the present, love, and epilepsy:

Mr. Gilliss:  I'll end with some profound words from Christy Shake.... as she raises her son Calvin, who has advanced epilepsy:
"As we stumble away I consider whether Calvin is capable of having any kind of belief system. What I am sure of is that he - like my dad was - is rooted in the here and now, in the love of the physical world and that which is in front of him, unaware of what might be coming around the next corner or what the next moment might promise. But whatever it is, it's enough for him not to have to believe, but rather simply to exist, to love and be loved."
