PROGRESSIVE CHRISTIANITY:

Point 3.  By calling ourselves progressive, we mean that we are Christians who understand the sharing of bread and wine in Jesus's name to be a representation of an ancient vision of God's feast for all peoples.

Waiting for Spring
As I look out through my sunroof
And I see -
I see squirrel homes
In the heart of Glen Burnie
I can almost imagine
Spring, yes, Spring is here...
I can enjoy the dance
Of Squirrels
Those raiding, watching, and hungry
Squirrels, Squirrels, and more Squirrels.

Jesus in the First and

Twenty-First Centuries

A Jesus Seminar on the Road

April 4 - 5, 2014

At Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church

3401 Nebraska Avenue NW Washington, DC

What does the rediscovery of the historical Jesus and his vision of the reign of God mean for the heirs of the Christian tradition? Does this Jesus have any relevance for people who claim no allegiance to Christianity? The presenters offer their insights and engage participants in a discussion about the relationship of Christianity to contemporary politics, economics, and global power.

"An inadequate, distanced, sentimental vision of who Christ is and what Christ stood for will limit the potentially all-transforming force of the Christ in history. We cannot afford that now, when everything depends on whether sufficient numbers of people can first be awakened to their innate divine truth and then empowered to act in the world to preserve the planet. How they should act in the name of God is known most clearly by a definite vision of what Christ stood for in his life and how he acted."

Last Sunday's contemporary reading from Andrew Harvey, Son of Man, p. 3

Look carefully! (Pssst, to the right.)  Rick Dove says "You walk right past many things that are more interesting than what you might think are really important;
slow down and enjoy them."
