NEWS FROM GAIN (GREATER ANNAPOLIS INTERFAITH NETWORK):

Final Showing of Film based on
The New Jim Crow

 Monday, January 27, 7-9 PM
at Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis

The New Jim Crow
This is a new documentary film based on Michele Alexander's book, The New Jim Crow. The film is called The House I Live In by Sundance award winner Eugene Jareki.  It deals with the injustices of our mass incarceration system.  Showing is in the sanctuary of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, 333 Dubois Road. Come and make contacts with those interested in exploring its effects in our community and state.  For more information, contact candylclark@verizon.net.  RSVP appreciated, as lite fare will be provided.
Painting the Stars

PLEASE NOTE: There will be no viewing of Painting the Stars on Sunday, January 26.

Horsehead Nebula
At Open Arms Tuesday, Jan. 28 we will get together at 6:30 PM to watch Painting the Stars, Session 4.  Contact Pastor Wayne at SchwandtW@aol.com for more information. You can access the Reader from the left column of the newsletter under QUICK LINKS: "Related Topics."
Below is a quote from Painting the Stars' Participant Reader by Bruce Sanguin, Part 4: An Evolving Faith,
page 34:

"...it is the claim that this felt impulse to transcend existing conditions, personally, collectively, and in our social systems, is the very presence of Christ persuading us, nudging us, drawing us towards fuller and deeper expressions of the very heart and wisdom of God out of which a world emerged and is evolving."

"Every person has two great 'books' which provide the signs to guide our pilgrimage on earth: the book of creation and the book of sacred Scripture."

Please Help Us Fight Racism

From Wisdom Farm in Baroda, Michigan, Theodore Richards writes:

In our efforts to to develop Wisdom Farm into a permaculture farm for our youth, we have been met with hostility from several neighbors. At a recent hearing for a special use permit, lies and rumors dominated the proceeding. We are asking the town of Baroda to treat us fairly.

We need your help..... Our farm in Michigan is being slandered and attacked by a racist campaign from some neighbors. Please sign our petition and SHARE:

Food banks throughout the country have been hard hit for the last few years and the need has not bypassed Anne Arundel County.  Please help those in need by donating pantry staples (tinned meat and fish, boxed pasta products, infant formula, etc.) as well as personal care products such as laundry detergent, toilet paper, disposable razors, bath/shower soap, deodorant, toothpaste, and feminine hygiene products. (You can't purchase non-edibles with food stamps.)
Just bring a bag and place it on the floor near our Community Table.
From Erine

   Pieces of our lives
    They are small but...
They remind us who we are
   And why we are who...
   It's like relationships
   As pieces of conversation
   Are the same, the same...
   I remember who said,
   "Not a problem"
"You know when you had enough"
   "STOP!"
   "Look in the mirror"
   Pieces of our lives
   Are everywhere
   Everywhere, everywhere, everywhere...
What pieces are we leaving out?
   What pieces are we sharing?
