* "Original blessing" was first called "original goodness" by Matthew Fox. These terms refer to the intrinsic goodness and incarnation of God in all creation, including each human life. We do not believe that we are damaged goods born in sin. We believe, rather, that everyone is born in blessing and called to live up to the good God empowers in us.
Each and every one of us is a marvel, unique in all the world!

Witnessed by Erine Sedicum after work on Monday, August 5, 2013 around 6:15pm:
 | Birds bathing in the sand - photo by Erine -
|
I saw a party it was birds bathing
in the sand,
stopped and reflected
on how these birds
in the heart of Arnold could enjoy nature at the drive-thru lane as I needed something sweet- something sweet I saw something sweeter- I enjoyed my snack of Oreo McFlurry and Double Cheese but I enjoyed the image that still dances- dancing in the being, reminding me God- God is everywhere!

birdsong
by Christina Borgoyn
to every tune it ever sang, the bird remembers the words it flutters its wings, a quick heartbeat and with the morning preying on young, fresh- supple bones, it closes its beak and gently lifts itself off into the sky.

Annapolis Mayoral Proclamation
to Chesapeake Pride on August 3, 2013
Presented to Wayne Schwandt, Founder of Chesapeake Pride and Kim Hinken, Chair of Chesapeake Pride Committee
by Eugene Peterson on behalf of the Mayor of Annapolis
Whereas the City of Annapolis is proud to be the first city in the region to offer domestic partner benefits for same-sex couples prior to legalization of marriage in Maryland; and whereas Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride is defined as a positive stance against discrimination and violence based on sexual orientation while promoting self-affirmation, dignity and equal rights; and whereas the Chesapeake Pride Festival is the only LGBT Pride Festival and Event to be exclusively organized and held in Anne Arundel County, shining a spotlight on the diversity and richness of our community; and whereas communities around the County celebrate LGBT Pride with rallies, parades, commemorations, community days, concerts, and large festivals, showcasing the positive impact LGBT individuals have on their community; and whereas we are reminded that each generation has brought us closer to true equality, and recent achievements confirm that we should never stop striving for its true equality for everyone; and whereas individually and collectively members of Annapolis's LGBT Community contribute greatly to our neighborhoods, economic vitality, arts and culture, and the social fabric of our city, county, state and country; and whereas Annapolis urges all citizens to join the fight against prejudice and discrimination anywhere it may exist, and to respect the rights of all people: now therefore, I, Joshua J. Cohen, Mayor of the same Annapolis, Maryland, do hereby proclaim August the Third, 2013 to be Chesapeake Pride Day in the City of Annapolis and call upon all the citizens thereof to redouble their appreciation for service to one's community and fellow-man as the highest calling one can heed. Given under my hand and the great seal of the City of Annapolis this Third Day of August, 2013. [signed] Joshua J. Cohen

birthday cake by Christina Borgoyne
I lay myself in the red velvet cake stars lit, how do I find my way? wax drips from the cosmic lanterns above
I am lost in the universe she breathes for me- of hydrogen and oxygen imploding miracles

Recollections from the ChristPath Seminar
June 2013, Part 3, Andrew Harvey: "The Gospel of Thomas"
 | |
Drs. Matthew Fox, Bruce Chilton and Andrew Harvey
|
The Gospel of Thomas was discovered in 1945 around the time of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. It is filled with sacred, fierce outrage and radicalism, to wake up the world to the terrific danger it is in and call us to sacred action to save our planet. We need to connect with and share the experience of the Cosmic Christ. Jesus, the supreme sacred activist of history, birthed the Divine in himself and showed us how to do it in ourselves. In the Gospel of Thomas there are 114 sayings, and they are directly from the heart of the Divine. What holds us back from getting this message is the level of our consciousness--and we have so little time! These sayings are a map for the transfiguring of the human being. Below are the beginnings of some of the sayings followed by what I remember of Andrew Harvey's comments: 1. "Let him who seeks not cease seeking until he finds ....." The Divine is living in you as you. Wake up to your Divine nature and to one another's Divine nature. Wake up to the nightmare of what is going on and your responsibility to do something about it. This is "passionate, universal mysticism." 2. "If your rules say to you....you have missed everything....The Kingdom is inside you and outside you....." We are turned into a "Revolutionary of Love" as Jesus was. "STOP PLAYING SMALL!" What are we doing while the world is burning!? We are passive, comatose, idiotic! 3. "I am the Light that is above them all, I am the All.....the All came from me and the All attain to me." 4. "She who is near to me is near to the fire." This is the most beautiful and most difficult life. 5. "I have cast fire upon the world and here I am....." Jesus did not believe he was Son of God. 6. "I will destroy this house....." This Establishment, this Machine, this System! 7. "Jesus saw some babies nursing....."
We need warrior-lovers now, divinized people who are tremendously evolved. When you make the two one, you work with your heart, your spiritual heart. Everything is holy! It is time to throw ourselves into holy transformation, passionately!
* This was a very intense and passionate presentation by Dr. Harvey. I hope that my sketchy recollections are not too inadequate or inaccurate. -Sylvia

From Chesapeake Conservancy's Osprey-Cam The youngest osprey chick, Ozzie, was rescued from the fishing line tangled round his legs and at last took flight just a few days ago! The whole family now fly freely to and from their nest. The young are no doubt learning how to fish.

Chesapeake Conservancy has installed an osprey-cam by the nest of this osprey pair with three fledgling chicks. You can watch and listen to them live at any time by clicking here.
