The Supreme Court of the United States struck down down section 3 of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Section 3 infamously restricted marriage to between "one man and one woman." This definition has now been rendered unconstitutional!
Additionally marriage equality was restored to California when the Supreme Court ruled the proponents of Proposition 8 (who brought the case forward) did not have the legal standing to appeal the lower court ruling that found Proposition 8 unconstitutional. This brings us to 13 states and the District of Columbia (more than 93 million Americans) that have marriage equality!

Christina Borgoyn writes:
dreaming of andromeda.
the blind man soothed
the drape of his cape
under faltering fingers
as his many grandchildren
sauntered beneath the table
and at his feet,
through muscusy eyes
he called each by name
and with tiny hands
holding his aged one close,
with bowed heads,
they closed their eyes and
spoke in quiet words
stumbling across the ages
silently and sweetly
dreaming of andromeda.

The Hidden Beauty of Pollination
a TED talk by Louis Schwartzberg with audio-video
Pollination: it's vital to life on Earth, but largely unseen by the human eye. Filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg shows us the intricate world of pollen and pollinators with gorgeous high-speed images from his film "Wings of Life," inspired by the vanishing of one of nature's primary pollinators, the honeybee.
Louie Schwartzberg is an award-winning cinematographer, director and producer who captures breathtaking images that celebrate life -- revealing connections, universal rhythms, patterns and beauty. To access this, click www.ted.com. Scroll down a bit and go to left-hand column category "Order talks by:" and click on "...beautiful." Scroll down to "Louie Schwartzberg: the hidden beauty of pollination," on the right. Click on that and enjoy!
