Our spiritual journey is about . . .
"being continually transformed and made new. And in that transformation, finding our desire for action in this world. We may be love, peace, and joy in this world."....."let ourselves feel the desire to love and to be connected." ~ Pastor Wayne Schwandt

"Saint Harvey" A Reflection by Tony Teano
In celebration of Harvey Milk Day on May 22nd, the May 19th Sacred Gathering Reflection will be about Saint Harvey of San Francisco. Tony Teano will share insights about Harvey Milk based on his graduate research at Johns Hopkins, which took him on a pilgrimage to San Francisco where he conducted research at the archives and interviewed people who knew Supervisor Milk. Come hear about a cultural history of hope, activism, and coming out, and see original historical artifacts and political memorabilia from San Francisco in the 1970s.

ALL ARE WELCOME TO
EVOLVE CHESAPEAKE BOOK GROUP
At new time: 10 - 11:30 am
We are reading Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, and will meet on May 18th fr0m 10 - 11:30 a.m. at the Barnes and Noble Cafe, Harbor Place. This is a lively group and there is still time to join. We will continue discussing the "Pray" section in India and move into the "Love" in Indonesia. Books are readily available if you need a copy. Contact Pastor Wayne at SchwandtW@aol.com.
Reflections by Erine Sedicum after she finished reading this book: After spending a weekend of letting myself be free. I completed the last pages of my book. I discovered that although I didn't have her money or opportunity, I found "me" all through this book. I love that she could be so honest and that is sometimes a problem of my own (LOL). She found herself and in my insane journeys I found myself. Whether it is my "still life" (food pics), West Virginia, or other side
adventures. I found myself...I found myself in places I never ever dreamed. Places I have yet to go...Life to be continued...To be continued...

American Cancer Society
RELAY FOR LIFE May 17 - May 18
 | |
Cancer Survivors
|
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
At the Relay for Life for Arnold/Annapolis on May 17 - May 18, teams of people will camp out at Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds and will take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, the overnight event, from 6 pm Friday to 6 am Saturday, lasts 24 hours.

creator
by Christina Borgoyn
If I could speak these humble words
inside of me, the depths I have fallen
can no longer be reached, though
my tears flow freely and my soul
is a vapid hole of mere nothingness
that we have come to the edge of,
I feel great warmth of some unknown
holy source that pries my fibrous being
from the darkest piths, weary, tattered, shorn-
though it is a myth of where this heart has gone,
uprooted from some sort of evil and brought
to daylight on the surface, I bask in the glow
of what my words used to be, creating
the images so soft with sounds that ignite
with joy, the sentences left behind know
only my mouth as their creator.

Last Call for Dinner and a Show
June 13, 2013
Join Evolve Chesapeake at Toby's Dinner Theatre in Columbia, MD for a performance of In the Heights, the 2008 Tony Award winning musical, set in New York City's Washington Heights neighborhood. A place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythms from three generations of music. It's a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.
What could be better than a great dinner and show in the company of your friends? Knowing that you're helping out Evolve Chesapeake with the purchase of your ticket!
The show date is THURSDAY, JUNE 13. Tickets are $51.00. The cost of the ticket includes the show, dinner, coffee/tea, taxes and gratuity. A cash bar is available. And speaking from experience, there isn't a bad seat in the house.
Why not get a group of your friends together and join us for the show?
For details, call or email Beth Lanier and let her know you're interested. 410-610-2327 EvolveBeth@gmail.com
Checks may be made payable to Evolve Chesapeake. Send payment to Evolve Chesapeake, PO Box 6159, Annapolis, MD 21401. Online payments may be available in the near future for a small processing fee.

A Meditation from Thich Nhat Hanh
As we are together, praying for peace, let us be truly with each other. Let us pay attention to our breathing. Let us be relaxed in our bodies and our minds. Let us be at peace with our bodies and our minds. Let us return to ourselves and become wholly ourselves. Let us maintain a half smile on our faces. Let us be aware of the source of being common to us all and to all living things. Evoking the presence of the Great Compassion, let us fill our hearts with our own compassion--towards ourselves and towards all living beings. Let us pray that all living beings realize that they are all brothers and sisters, all nourished from the same source of life. Let us pray that we ourselves cease to be the cause of suffering to each other. Let us plead with ourselves to live in a way which will not deprive other beings of air, water, food, shelter, or the chance to live. With humility, with awareness of the existence of life, and of the sufferings that are going on around us, let us pray for the establishment of peace in our hearts and on earth. Amen.
