ALONE IN THE FOREST
by Christina Borgoyn
Remember the softness we felt when traversing the forest alone together, each inside our own head whose depths we never knew, though the longer we were out in the earth, soul became attached to the land, for where we stood instinct of lineage remembered the spirits that lingered nearby who yearned to be as tender as we had once been when we first discovered how to breathe without blanket of womb. |
WOMEN'S SPIRITUALITY GROUP
We are meeting at 7 pm every other Tuesday at Kathy Baker's home in Edgewater. Our focus is on ways of connecting to the Divine. Each meeting, several topics about spirituality and women are discussed, and a different form of meditation is shared in order to learn about it and try it out.
If you would like to join the group, please email Kathy Baker at

American Cancer Society
RELAY FOR LIFE May 17 - May 18
 | |
Cancer Survivors
|
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.
At the Relay for Life for Arnold/Annapolis on May 17 - May 18, teams of people will camp out at Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds and will take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, the overnight event, from 6 pm Friday to 6 am Saturday, lasts 24 hours.

ERINE'S SCRABBLE GAME, by Erine Sedicum
The word is "loved."
Each year, I try to avoid Mother's Day...not that Mom was perfect. In fact, she refused to be called Mom but Patty. Over the years since her death in 2000, I found many ways to pretend Mother's Day didn't exist... I would not do Mother's Day projects but encourage the children to make something for Mom. One year, a child made something, a card I believe, and gave it to me and said, "Give it to your Mom." I said, "Thank you I will." I turned to the bathroom and started to cry a few tears. I returned to other children and continued the activity, hiding "Mom, I miss you."
This year, I won't won't won't avoid it. I will make the phone calls. I don't see any point to sending cards as I want to hear the voices of my "Mom" in Connecticut, Virginia, and Maryland. If I just leave a message they'll hear my voice...I love my stepmothers and my now retired AACC mom. I wish all Moms a Happy Mother's Day whether you are a mom to a child or an animal (your baby...mine too). I have one more message, Mom, you aren't Patty but Mom, and if I could do anything on Mother's Day it would be a Scrabble game, our 1st game. All the years I watched you play and that would be our day. My first word in our game is LOVED...your turn!
P.S.- In the scrabble game with Evolve Chesapeake, the word is LOVED too...your turn!

Dinner and a Show June 13, 2013 Join Evolve Chesapeake at Toby's Dinner Theatre in Columbia, MD for a performance of In the Heights, the 2008 Tony Award winning musical, set in New York City's Washington Heights neighborhood. A place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythms from three generations of music. It's a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. What could be better than a great dinner and show in the company of your friends? Knowing that you're helping out Evolve Chesapeake with the purchase of your ticket! The show date is THURSDAY, JUNE 13. Tickets are $51.00. The cost of the ticket includes the show, dinner, coffee/tea, taxes and gratuity. A cash bar is available. And speaking from experience, there isn't a bad seat in the house. Why not get a group of your friends together and join us for the show? For details, call or email Beth Lanier and let her know you're interested. 410-610-2327 EvolveBeth@gmail.com Checks may be made payable to Evolve Chesapeake. Send payment to Evolve Chesapeake, PO Box 6159, Annapolis, MD 21401. Online payments may be available in the near future for a small processing fee.

For Mothers Day, a few quotes about mothers:
- Making the decision to have a child is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. ~Elizabeth Stone
