The God who made us what we are knows what we desire to be and waits with infinite patience while we become what we can. We, on the other hand, know that whatever we need to become all that we can be, this same great and loving God will supply. For all of that, we are thankful. From that gratitude grow love and commitment, faith and trust, wonder and worship.

INTERVIEW OF MATTHEW FOX RE: POPE BENEDICT XVI ON DEMOCRACY NOW, FEBRUARY 28, 2013
 | | Matthew Fox |
Fascism in the Church: Ex-Priest on "The Pope's War,"
Clergy Abuse and Quelling Liberation Theology
Introduction from Democracy Now Website:
As Pope Benedict XVI steps down today, we turn to a former Catholic priest who was silenced and expelled by the pope, then-Cardinal Ratzinger, in the 1980s. Matthew Fox chronicles his story in the book "The Pope's War: Why Ratzinger's Secret Crusade Has Imperiled the Church and How It Can Be Saved." Pope Benedict's tenure was marked by several scandals, most notably his handling of the widening sexual abuse scandals in the Catholic Church, including allegations that he ignored at least one case of abuse while serving as a cardinal. Documents show that in 1985 he delayed efforts to defrock a priest convicted of molesting children. "I'll take the pope at his word here when he says he's tired. I would be tired, too, if I left as much devastation in my wake as he has," Fox says. "I think that the Catholic Church as we know it, the structure of the Vatican, is passé. We're moving beyond it. And it's become a viper's nest. It's really sick, what's going on, obviously - the cover-up of the pedophile priests."
Guest: 'Matthew Fox, author of over two dozen books, most recently, The Pope's War: Why Ratzinger's Secret Crusade Has Imperiled the Church and How It Can Be Saved. He is a former Catholic priest who was first stopped from teaching liberation theology and creation spirituality by Cardinal Ratzinger, then expelled from the Dominican Order to which he had belonged for 34 years. He currently serves as an Episcopal priest.

Silent Anniversaries
by Erine Sedicum March 4, 2013
I can't remember when
it all changed as it has gotten mixed into my pot of experiences. I do have my silent anniversaries One being March 5th-- my Mom's second and last marriage. I give a quiet tear for the love of her special marriage to the man I'm proud to call "DAD." My next is March 3rd-- The time stamped in my head and heart like a moment that...that lives. I ask myself why-- Why the brakes failed. These times could be oppressing-- oppressing me--oppressing me I learned on these days to see the gift of life, love, and hope, looking for my inner strength Thankful for my many encounters with God. But my greatest is August 2nd-- when I walked into Evolve Chesapeake and discovered...the greatest was yet-- yet to come...yet to embrace God as God is and I am...

The Summer Day
by Mary Oliver
Who made the world? Who made the swan, and the black bear? Who made the grasshopper? This grasshopper, I mean -- the one who has flung herself out of the grass, the one who is eating sugar out of my hand, who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down -- who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes. Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face. Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away. I don't know exactly what a prayer is. I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields, which is what I have been doing all day. Tell me, what else should I have done? Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon? Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
