Women's Spirituality Group

to meet February 19

Our  women's spirituality group has begun and is meeting at the home of Kathy Baker in Edgewater.   Our focus will be on ways of connecting to the divine.  Each week several topics about spirituality and women will be discussed, and each week a different form of meditation will be shared in order to learn about them and to try them out.  The group meets twice a month on a Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.  The next meeting will be February 19th.  The Women's Spirituality Group will likely continue to meet for several  months.

Here is what Kim said about their first meeting:  "I felt very comfortable and safe at the group.  I left that night feeling extremely relaxed and peaceful.  The experience was both refreshing and enlightening.  I'm looking forward to our next gathering on Feb 19th.

If you are interested, email Kathy Baker at k3b@comcast.net.

Community Retreat:  March 8-10

Greenwell State Park

Please note that the correct name of the park in which our retreat will be held is GREENWELL STATE PARK. We regret that it was misnamed in the past two issues of Originally Blessed!!   -the editor
Our INvent-Co-Create Season has set the tone for our weekend retreat in beautiful Greenwell State Park. We will come together from Friday, March 8 to Sunday, March 10 early afternoon to explore and share about our spiritual paths, the efforts that enrich us, and those practices that diminish our awareness of our own holiness. It's going to be a great opportunity to help us continue evolving together towards the deep dreams and big hopes we have for our future, and we will have fun together. We hope that all who can will come.  Cost of the weekend for lodging, food and materials is $125 per person and can be paid in installments so long as the balance is paid before retreat weekend.  The facility will be available after 2 PM on that Friday.

NEW BOOK & NEW PLACE Reading Group to begin
Eat, Pray, Love on March 16th

The next meeting of the Reading Group will be at 11 a.m.  on March 16th.  We've decided to meet at a new place, the Starbucks in Barnes & Nobel at Harbour Place, Annapolis.

Eat, Pray, Love, by Elizabeth Gilbert,  is our new book.

We hope more Companions will join us. Let us know if you are interested.  Remember, besides being an interesting learning experience, our book group is also a great opportunity just to be together!   Contact Pastor Wayne at SchwandtW@aol.com.  So, get your book and come join us!

OPEN ARMS WILL WELCOME YOU
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 26

Open Arms is a discussion group that meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:30 PM, usually at the home of various Companions.  We share a meal, often provided by the host, or a carry-out.  Discussion, fun, and getting to know each other better have always been a part of these groups.  Contact Pastor Wayne at SchwandtW@aol.com for details.  ALL are welcome!

  Community Dialogue on Death Penalty
Tuesday, February 19, 2013
7-9 pm (doors open 6:45 pm)
at
Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis
333 Dubois Road, Annapolis, MD 21401

 All are welcome:
Supporters of the death penalty, supporters of repeal, and those undecided are all invited to participate in a "respectful conversation" about the proposed legislation to repeal Maryland's death penalty law.

Speakers from each side will briefly state their case for either repeal or to keep the death penalty.  The remainder of the evening will consist of participants sharing their thoughts and concerns in small-group facilitated discussions.

Goal:
Opportunity for citizens with differing viewpoints to share ideas, listen and learn from each other, and to come away with a greater understanding of another perspective.

Sponsors:  Greater Annapolis Interfaith Network (GAIN),

New Year Resolve

The time has come
To stop allowing the clutter
To clutter my mind
Like dirty snow,
Shove it off and find
Clear time, clear water.

Time for a change,
Let silence in like a cat
Who has sat at my door
Neither wild nor strange
Hoping for food from my store
And shivering on the mat.

Let silence in.
She will rarely speak or mew,
She will sleep on my bed
And all I have ever been
Either false or true
Will live again in my head.

For it is now or not
As old age silts the stream,
To shove away the clutter,
To untie every knot,
To take the time to dream,
To come back to still water.
