Greetings!
It was great to be back with the congregation this past Sunday, after my time away. We had a great vacation with lots of adventures, and it's always good to come home. We are now beginning the "gearing up" process that will lead us to launch a new season of ministry in the Fall. I'm grateful to Rev. Elizabeth, Rev. Mary, and Alecia for their great work while I was away.
As most of you are aware, just before my vacation began, we presented to the congregation a proposal about starting a cafe on our campus. That presentation has generated much interest and discussion, which is all to the good. Now that I am back, I am in the process of consulting with various people in the congregation, including the Vestry, and will shortly be able to announce how our process of discernment around this proposal, and the questions that have flowed from it, will continue.
I would like to commend the Core Teams, that were formed out of our Planning Extravaganza in April, for the great work they have been doing since then. We should have a projected three year plan from each team by the time the Vestry meets next week, and we will then begin the work of incorporating these individual plans into a master three year plan for the congregation. Our goal is to be able to present that plan to you on Sunday, September 11.
This Sunday, the Gospel offers us some teaching from Jesus on prayer. Part of that teaching has become the basis for the Lord's Prayer in the Christian tradition. Jesus' teaching points toward God's availability to us when we "knock" and "seek", promising us that we shall indeed "find" when we approach God in prayer. What does this mean to us today? We'll be exploring that theme this Sunday.
Peace,

OWLS Annual Picnic
Friday August 12th, Noon in the Trinity Courtyard
Please join us on Friday, August 12th, at 12:00 for the OWLS Annual Picnic, held this year at Trinity. We are setting up tables in the courtyard between the Church and Montgomery House, under the cool shade of the trees. Our own Alecia McDowell and her husband Nate will be the Disc Jockeys for the event, playing your favorite songs to celebrate the summer and entertain attendees. If you have any special music requests please call/email Alecia. Come visit with your friends and catch up, in a festive, yet relaxing venue. We will serve BBQ chicken, ribs, baked beans, coleslaw, corn muffins, watermelon, and end the meal with "make your own sundaes". We hope to have a great turn-out, with OWLS and all parishioners who want to join us!! But we need you to call or email our "D.J. Extraordinaire" Alecia in the Church Office to let us know by August 9th if you are coming. Hope to see you at the picnic!

Big Sur Camping Trip
August 18-21, 2016
Join the Trinity community for a relaxing weekend of camping and fun in Big Sur!
The Santa Lucia Chapel and Campground, a mission of All Saints Parish in Carmel, is a private and secluded campground in the gorgeous Big Sur area. The campground itself is right on the Big Sur River and has a family friendly beach area. The campground has running water and toilets (but no showers), picnic tables, a group barbecue area and a large campfire circle. A communal dinner will be prepared for all on Saturday night, but otherwise meals are individual responsibility. Our time together will include a Sunday morning Eucahrist in the outdoor chapel, as well as morning prayer and compline to start and end our days together. There are ocean beaches within driving distance for those who want to venture out. In general this weekend is a time to relax, play in the river and on the beach and have fun together as a church community. You are welcome to come for as much or as little time as you would like.
Cost: $30 per person for the weekend (children under 5 stay for free; $100 max per family)
