This Coming Sunday: Summer Sunday School
Trinity's summer Sunday school program continues this week! All K-5th graders are encouraged to arrive by 10:00 in the Good Shepherd classroom for this fun lesson.
This week's What Matters to Me and Why lesson is brought by Camille Kennedy.
Camille will be talking about the value service work brings to her life and to others.
Executive Director of Random Acts of Flowers, Camille will introduce the children to her non-profit work and engage the children in flower arranging.

Please note that the Nursery will remain open every Sunday through the summer for younger children.

Last week Christian and Alice talked about how they like to make things because they can see how it changes the world around them and that makes them feel proud. They talked about how when God made the world and looked around and "saw that it was good." God made us to be like him, and since he's a creative God, they wondered if that's why we are creative. They shared some of the the arts and crafts they have made and then provided the children with craft materials so they could create too. Thank you to Alice and Christian for leading such a great lesson!

UPCOMING TRINITY EVENTS
OWLS Annual Picnic
Friday August 12th, Noon in the Trinity Courtyard

Please join us on Friday, August 12th, at 12:00 for the OWLS Annual Picnic, held this year at Trinity. We are setting up tables in the courtyard between the Church and Montgomery House, under the cool shade of the trees. Our own Alecia McDowell and her husband Nate will be the Disc Jockeys for the event, playing your favorite songs to celebrate the summer and entertain attendees. If you have any special music requests please call/email Alecia.  Come visit with your friends and catch up, in a festive, yet relaxing venue.  We will serve BBQ chicken, ribs, baked beans, coleslaw, corn muffins, watermelon, and end the meal with "make your own sundaes". We hope to have a great turn-out, with OWLS and all parishioners who want to join us!! But we need you to call or email our "D.J. Extraordinaire" Alecia in the Church Office to let us know by August 9th if you are coming. Hope to see you at the picnic!

Big Sur Camping Trip
August 18-21, 2016

Join the Trinity community for a relaxing weekend of camping and fun in Big Sur!

The Santa Lucia Chapel and Campground, a mission of All Saints Parish in Carmel, is a private and secluded campground in the gorgeous Big Sur area. The campground itself is right on the Big Sur River and has a family friendly beach area. The campground has running water and toilets (but no showers), picnic tables, a group barbecue area and a large campfire circle.  A communal dinner will be prepared for all on Saturday night, but otherwise meals are individual responsibility. Our time together will include a Sunday morning Eucahrist in the outdoor chapel, as well as morning prayer and compline to start and end our days together. There are ocean beaches within driving distance for those who want to venture out. In general this weekend is a time to relax, play in the river and on the beach and have fun together as a church community. You are welcome to come for as much or as little time as you would like.

Cost:  $30 per person for the weekend (children under 5 stay for free; $100 max per family)
For more information contact Rev. Elizabeth Riley or register here.

Thank you to Home & Hope Volunteers

Trinity Church recently completed its two weeks of hosting the Home & Hope rotating shelter program on July3. Our guests were very appreciative of the kindness shown by our volunteers who spent so much time with them and brought such wonderful meals. We hosted five families the first week, then dropped to four after one family secured permanent housing and exited the program.

We would like to acknowledge and thank more than 55 individuals representing 43 Trinity families who made it all possible, including younger family members who participated in the nightly activities and meal preparation: Steve & Joanne Andrew, Dick Babb, Estelle Bertolucci, Lynne & Jim Bramlett, Flo Britton, Allison Burzio, Nancy Child, Janis Christiansen, Bob Cleveland, Bill Coggshall, Lynn Cox, John & Susanne Crevelt, Mel Day & Frank Ham, Bruce Deal, Elizabeth Gheleta, Robert Gomes, David Hohl, Laurie Hunter, Eric Jones, Bob & Gerry Kirchgatter, Michelle & Jason Koglin, Violet Lyon, Elaine MacDonald, Cheryl MacGregor, Ron & Sally Mancini, Timi Most, Jim & Barbara Newton, Michael & Gail O'Connor, Karen Paese & Moises Sabio, Pat Pavao, Becca Pecore, Lynn Pieron, Carol Press & Peter Worth, Maggie Pringle, Ross & Debbie Smith, Cristina & Ben Smith, Haydi Sowerwine, Jeannie Thomas, Sarah Tkach, Victoria Tregoning, Fiona Walker, Chrisie Wendin, Robin Whalen, Sally Young, and Emilee Wilhelm's team from St. Bede's Episcopal Church.

PRAYER
O God, in the course of this busy life, give us times of refreshment and peace; and grant that we may so use our leisure to rebuild our bodies and renew our minds that our spirits may be opened to the goodness of your creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
