Trinity Church in Menlo Park

As we approach the holiday weekend we want to wish all of you a safe and happy 4th of July. We will have our normal 8 and 10 am services with childcare available in the nursery.

You may have noticed a new banner by the Trinity sign on the corner of Laurel and Ravenswood. Our "God Welcomes All" banner with the rainbow background is a symbol of our support of the LGBTQ community both in celebration of Pride month and in solidarity with the victims of the Orlando shooting.

The youth and their leaders have returned from their mission trip and will be sharing more about their travels with all of us soon. In the meantime if you want to learn more about their work in LA you can read about it on the Trinity blog here.

We continue to invite your feedback regarding the cafe proposal that was sent out earlier this month. In the fall we will have another gathering to discuss the questions that have been raised and continue our congregation discernment. You can access the cafe materials here.

Peace,

Rev. Elizabeth Riley

UPCOMING TRINITY EVENTS
Big Sur Camping Trip
August 18-21, 2016

Join the Trinity community for a relaxing weekend of camping and fun in Big Sur!

The Santa Lucia Chapel and Campground, a mission of All Saints Parish in Carmel, is a private and secluded campground in the gorgeous Big Sur area. The campground itself is right on the Big Sur River and has a family friendly beach area. The campground has running water and toilets (but no showers), picnic tables, a group barbecue area and a large campfire circle.  A communal dinner will be prepared for all on Saturday night, but otherwise meals are individual responsibility. Our time together will include a Sunday morning Eucahrist in the outdoor chapel, as well as morning prayer and compline to start and end our days together. There are ocean beaches within driving distance for those who want to venture out. In general this weekend is a time to relax, play in the river and on the beach and have fun together as a church community. You are welcome to come for as much or as little time as you would like.

Cost:  $30 per person for the weekend (children under 5 stay for free; $100 max per family)
For more information contact Rev. Elizabeth Riley or register here.

OWLS Annual Picnic
Friday August 12th, Noon in the Trinity Courtyard

Please join us on Friday, August 12, at 12:00 for our annual parish picnic, held this year at Trinity. We are setting up tables in the courtyard between the church and Montgomery House, under the cool shade of the trees. Our own Alecia McDowell and her husband Nate will be the Disc Jockeys for the event, playing your favorite songs to celebrate the summer and entertain attendees.  Come visit with your friends and catch up, in a festive, yet relaxing venue. We will serve BBQ chicken, ribs, baked beans, cole slaw, corn muffins, watermelon, and end the meal with "make your own sundaes".

We hope to have a great turn-out, with OWLS and all parishioners who want to join us!!
But we need you to call our "D.J. Extraordinaire" Alecia in the church office to let us know by Aug. 9 if you are coming. Hope to see you at the picnic!

PRAYER
Almighty God, who hast given us this good land for our heritage: We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will.
Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
