Trinity Church in Menlo Park

Last Sunday we began our two weeks of hosting Home and Hope at Trinity. We want to give a big thanks to everyone volunteering and especially to Barbara Newton and Jim Bramlett for coordinating this outreach opportunity.

Rev. Matthew has begun his summer vacation and Rev. Mary is just returning from a fantastic mission trip to LA. She will be taking some much needed vacation time and will return to work in July. We look forward to hearing more about the mission trip and the wonderful work that the youth did while they were in LA.

If you haven't already done so, please take some time to read the cafe report and learn about the proposed cafe plan. The congregational discernment phase of this project continues, meaning that we continue to welcome your feedback and your questions.  You may convey feedback to me  or any member of the Vestry.  If you have specific questions, you may direct these to me or to Bruce Deal, who is a member of the Cafe Task Force.  Please click here to read the cafe proposal.  As the congregational discernment phase continues, there will be another meeting sometime in early Fall for another opportunity to have conversation together as we continue to decide whether this is the right move for Trinity.

Peace,

Rev. Elizabeth Riley

Big Sur Camping Trip
August 18-21, 2016

Join the Trinity community for a relaxing weekend of camping and fun in Big Sur!

The Santa Lucia Chapel and Campground, a mission of All Saints Parish in Carmel, is a private and secluded campground in the gorgeous Big Sur area. The campground itself is right on the Big Sur River and has a family friendly beach area. The campground has running water and toilets (but no showers), picnic tables, a group barbecue area and a large campfire circle.  A communal dinner will be prepared for all on Saturday night, but otherwise meals are individual responsibility. Our time together will include a Sunday morning Eucahrist in the outdoor chapel, as well as morning prayer and compline to start and end our days together. There are ocean beaches within driving distance for those who want to venture out. In general this weekend is a time to relax, play in the river and on the beach and have fun together as a church community. You are welcome to come for as much or as little time as you would like.

Cost:  $30 per person for the weekend (children under 5 stay for free; $100 max per family)
For more information contact Rev. Elizabeth Riley or register here.

PRAYER
Almighty God, who created us in your own image: Grant us grace fearlessly to contend against evil and to make no peace with oppression; and, that we may reverently use our freedom, help us to employ it in the maintenance of justice in our communities and among the nations, to the glory of your holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
