Trinity Church in Menlo Park

This Sunday is the Feast of Pentecost, that day on the church calendar when we celebrate the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.  It is a time for remembering that which connects us to the mystery of God, to one another, and to all of creation. It is a celebration of God's continuing presence within and among us. This is a traditional baptismal date, and we will be celebrating baptisms at the 10:00 am service.  At that same service, we will also be welcoming new members.  We invite you to wear red this Sunday!

We are also welcoming Kris Goodrich as our special guest this Sunday at 10 am.  Kris will be retiring as Director of the Child and Family Institute (CFI) at the end of June, and after 30 years of service to CFI, we want to honor Kris, give thanks for her ministry, and give her our good wishes and blessings.

Remember that next Sunday May, 22, is our Festival of Music at 10 am, celebrating our music ministry here at Trinity.  The Festival will include all our music groups -- the Choir, Singing Saints, the Bell Choir, OMG, and the Blue Grass Group. Please note that there will be no Communion at 10:00 am on May 22.  There will be Communion at 8:00 am and 5:05 pm that day.

Speaking of the 5:05 service, please note that the last 5:05 service of the season will be on May 22.   The service will then be suspended for the summer, and will resume on Sunday, September 19.

We will also be honoring Trinity's graduating 8th graders, seniors, and college students on May 22.  Please be in touch with Rev. Mary if you have someone in your family who is graduating this Spring.

Peace,
MatthewSignatureGenuine

Home and Hope
June 19th to July 3rd

Home and Hope continues to provide a safe haven for homeless families by offering a safe, nurturing shelter and support while the families work to regain their self-sufficiency. This will be the fifth summer that the Trinity Community has welcomed H&H families.  Our visiting families will be with us from June 19th to July 3rd. Once again, we will need many volunteers for meals, overnight hosts, children's activities,  and food shopping. We welcome "new" volunteers as well as all of you who have been of great help the past four years.

A description of volunteer opportunities and needs can be found here.

Big Sur Camping Trip
August 18-21, 2016

Join the Trinity community for a relaxing weekend of camping and fun in Big Sur!

The Santa Lucia Chapel and Campground, a mission of All Saints Parish in Carmel, is a private and secluded campground in the gorgeous Big Sur area. The campground itself is right on the Big Sur River and has a family friendly beach area. The campground has running water and toilets (but no showers), picnic tables, a group barbecue area and a large campfire circle.  A communal dinner will be prepared for all on Saturday night, but otherwise meals are individual responsibility. Our time together will include a Sunday morning Eucahrist in the outdoor chapel, as well as morning prayer and compline to start and end our days together. There are ocean beaches within driving distance for those who want to venture out. In general this weekend is a time to relax, play in the river and on the beach and have fun together as a church community. You are welcome to come for as much or as little time as you would like.

Cost:  $30 per person for the weekend (children under 5 stay for free; $100 max per family)
For more information contact Rev. Elizabeth Riley or register here.
