Greetings!

This Sunday, we continue to celebrate the Easter season, as the Great Fifty Days roll on.  Please note that there are no children's programs or youth group this Sunday, due to Spring Break for many of our schools.  These programs will resume on April 17.  The nursery, as always, will be open.

As we move into the second half of April, there is a lot going on at Trinity.  Next Saturday, April 16, is our annual Spaghetti Bingo Night from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in Trinity Hall.   Tickets will be on sale this Sunday after the 10:00 am service, and will also be available at the door.  We hope you will plan to join us for this fun event that serves as the major fundraiser for the Youth Mission Trip this summer.

On Sunday, April 24, we will have our Planning Extravaganza after the 10:00 am service.  We will share lunch and divide into five groups, corresponding to each of the five areas of focus for our emerging three year plan.  Please join us for this important brainstorming session, that will identify the action steps over the next three years in each of the focus areas.  We will be done by 1:00 pm.

On Saturday, April 30, we will participate once again in  Rebuilding Together, with volunteers from Epiphany, San Carlos, and Christ Church, Los Altos.  This outreach opportunity focuses on a house in East Menlo Park that is in need of work, but whose owner is unable to afford it.   It's a great way to give back to our community.

Please plan to be a part of what's happening at Trinity this month.

Peace,
MatthewSignatureGenuine

Planning Extravaganza
Sunday, April 24, 11:15 am to 12:45 pm

Most of you will remember that last year, a Church Assessment Survey was conducted as a kind of "check up" for our congregation, and to help identify areas of focus that should receive special attention over the next 3 years.  The results of that survey were very positive in terms of revealing a healthy and vital congregation.

On Sunday, April 24, our planing process will continue with the Planning Extravaganza!  Following the 10 am service, you are invited to grab a portable lunch and to choose one of the five areas of focus:  Growing the Congregation, Strengthening Spiritual Discovery, Broadening Parishioner Engagement, Strengthening Ministry with Children/Families/Youth, and Expanding our Outreach/Justice Ministries.   Each of these groups will have a facilitator that will guide those who choose it through a process of brainstorming that will ultimately lead to the identification of about 3 projects that will be implemented over the next three years to advance each of these areas.

It is also our hope to identify a core group of 3 to 5 people in each of these areas to help flesh out further details of the projects that emerge (which would require one additional meeting of each of the core groups).   Ultimately, the projects from each group will be incorporated into our three year plan.

Lunch will be provided, child care/children's activities will be provided, and we will finish between 12:45 and 1 pm.  Please join us as we continue to work to build up the life of Trinity Church.

OWLS Luncheon
Friday, April 8th, Noon, Angus Hall

Please join us on April 8 to welcome Rev. Elizabeth as our speaker this month. After her Lenten series on the book Being Mortal by Atul Gawande, several parishioners asked her if she would continue her talk surrounding this important subject. In our group, many felt that there was a need to continue following up on how we can better approach our mortality when we (our spouses, friends, and perhaps parents) are closer to it at this stage of life. It will be a chance to address issues into which we want to delve deeper. After the OWLS meeting there may be an interest for groups to form to meet and discuss this with each other.

Please contact Alecia in the office to let us know if you plan to join us for this informative presentation. Lunch is always provided for attendees, so don't miss out joining OWLS on this date.

Stephen Ministries Session
Sunday, April 17th after the 10 am Service, Angus Hall

Stephen Ministries is a one-on-one pastoral care program. It trains members of the congregation to offer ongoing pastoral care to individuals in the midst of transition, change, or life hardship. Stephen Ministers are weekly prayer partners to those they minister too. Stephen Ministies work with the clergy to provide long term pastoral care and comfort to our community.

Join us to learn more about the services they provide and explore whether you might be called to be a Stephen Minister or whether you might benefit from having a Stephen Minister. For more information contact Rev. Elizabeth.

Rebuilding Together
Saturday, April 30th

Every year we gather for a day of service to remodel and make improvements to the home of someone in need. This year we will once again be partnering with Epiphany in San Carlos and Christ Church in Los Altos. Please save the date! More details will be provided as the date gets closer.  If you have questions contact John.

Kris Goodrich Retiring from CFI

After co-founding the Child and Family Institute with Josetta Walsh, and serving as its director for many years, Kris Goodrich has announced her retirement, as of the end of June.

Kris has been an institution herself on the Trinity campus, earning the admiration and love of several generations of parents and children who have been the recipients of her wisdom and love.  Kris's bright spirit and infectious laugh will be greatly missed by all of us.

The Trinity community gives thanks for Kris's ministry, and we wish her all good things and many blessings as she moves on to the next chapter of her life.  We hope to have Kris as our guest in church soon so that we can wish her well in person.
