Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope that today will be a blessing to you, and that you will take a moment this Thanksgiving Day to remember the good things that are a part of your life, and to be grateful.  And let us also remember those for whom gratitude is hard this year, and who experience life heavily this holiday.

This Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent, the beginning of a new church year and of our approach to Christmas.  Our services will all begin with the lighting of the Advent Wreath, and our liturgies -- particularly at 10:00 am and 5:05 pm -- will be changed to reflect the Advent season.  As we enter upon this time of preparation, I hope you will be able to step back from the anxious rush that the weeks before Christmas can become and find a place of peace and calm.  We will try to make church that place for you every week.

The beginning of Advent also means the appearance of the creche at the back of the church.  We will enjoy watching how it changes between now and Christmas.  And our thanks to the Altar Guild and their helpers for setting it up for us.

We are in the midst of our 2015 Stewardship Campaign, "To Love and Serve with Gladness and Singleness of Heart".  We have received about 90 pledges so far, which means we have about 100 more to go!  If you have pledged for 2016, thank you!  If you haven't, please do so as soon as possible.  You may use the paper pledge card you received (more are available in the back of the church if you need one), but you may also make your pledge securely online by clicking HERE.

And as we are rapidly moving toward the end of 2015, please remember to complete your 2015 pledge by December 31.  The Treasurer also reminds you that if you plan to make a stock gift in 2015, please (1) try to do that by December 15 and (2) please notify the Treasurer of your gift of stock.  Thank you!!

Thank you for your support of Trinity, and for being a part of this community.

Peace,
MatthewSignatureGenuine

Lessons & Carols with Christmas Fiesta on December 13

Please plan to join us for our Advent Service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 13, at 10:00 am.  Please note that there will be no Communion at this service, though Communion will be offered as usual at 8:00 am and 10:00 am.

After enjoying Lessons and Carols, plan to stay for our Christmas Fiesta Lunch in Trinity Hall, which will include the singing of Christmas carols (forbidden in the church itself until Christmas Eve!!).  It's a great time for food, fellowship, and fun as we anticipate the Christmas season a bit.  The Fiesta will include food from the Kitchen Crew and Ron Valentino on the piano!

Stewardship 2015
To Love and Serve with Gladness and Singleness of Heart

Thank you to those of you who have already made your 2016 pledge.   We urge you to submit your pledge as soon as possible, as this greatly helps with the formulation of our budget for 2016.   You may fill in a secure pledge card online by clicking HERE.
To learn more about how to prayerfully and thoughtfully consider your 2016 pledge, please visit the online presentation by clicking HERE.  This page also has a link to allow you to fill out your pledge card online.

Youth & Family Ministries Update

There will be no morning Children's Programs this Sunday, due to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. This is a great opportunity for kids to come to church and experience the whole service as we begin the Advent season.

Note: the time for the Christmas Pageant service on Christmas Eve has changed!!  The service will be at 3:00 pm, an hour earlier than previously.

Youth group will also be off this Sunday night for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Outreach Opportunity:  "Christmas" Dinner for Veterans on Dec. 4

For some years now, volunteers from Trinity have helped to provide an early Christmas Dinner for Veterans in our area.  JB Brahy oversaw and coordinated this effort for years.   Now that JB and Gail have moved to Southern California, the baton is being passed to the Outreach Commission.

The dinner will take place on Friday, December 4, from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm at the Peninsula Veterans Center, 345 Middlefield Road, Building 1, in Menlo Park.  For more information, and to volunteer to help, please contact Robert Wendin.

St. Nick, Parents' Morning Out, Lessons & Carols, and the Christmas Fiesta

Mark your calendar for our special events that lead up to our celebration of Christmas.

On Sunday, December 6, St. Nicholas will be joining us at both the 8:00 am and 10:00 am services.  His visit is extra-special this year because it falls on the actual St. Nicholas' Day in the church calendar!

Saturday, December 12, from 10:00 am to Noon will be Parents' Morning Out!  Youth group members and parent volunteers will supervise and entertain children that morning so the parents have some free time.  It's a great opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done!

Sunday, December 13, will be our service of Advent Lessons and Carols at 10:00 am (note there will be no Communion at that service), with special offerings from our music program.   We will also be welcoming new members.

Our Christmas Fiesta will also be on December 13, following the 10:00 am service.  This is an opportunity to enjoy food and fellowship together, while having the opportunity to sing Christmas carols and get in the spirit of the season.  This year, the food is being provided by the Kitchen Crew, led by  Bob Cleveland.

Christmas Memorials

There are opportunities every Sunday for people to make contributions for flowers and/or music to honor God and give thanks for all sorts of occasions (births, anniversaries or birthdays, memorials to loved ones who have died) or to honor a particular group of folks (the clergy and staff, the Family Ministries Commission, the Altar Guild, etc.). At Christmas, with all the special music and floral decorations, many such memorials can be made by many different people to celebrate the event and help defray the extra cost of the celebrations. If you wish to honor God and give thanks for any special persons or events this Christmas, we encourage you to do so.

Please CLICK HERE to print out the Christmas Memorial Form, and fill it out following the instructions.  Forms should be returned to the Church Office by Sunday, December 6.
