This Sunday, we reflect on a story from Mark's Gospel in which Jesus is critical of religious leaders who are motivated chiefly by the desire to be honored, which he compares to the honor of a poor woman who, out of her poverty, gives "all she has" to the Temple treasury.   Rev. Mary will be accompanying some of our youth on the annual Peninsula Episcopal Youth trip to Disneyland, and so Rev. Frannie will be presiding at our 10:00 am service this Sunday (while I handle the preaching!).  It's always great to welcome Frannie among us.

Thanksgiving is approaching, and so it's time for us to support Catherine's Center with the gift of Thanksgiving Dinner.  Frannie will be facilitating our outreach to Catherine's Center this holiday season, while Rev. Elizabeth is on maternity leave.  Beginning this Sunday, we will have a sign up sheet out at all of our services so those who wish may volunteer to provide ingredients and recipes so that the women of Catherine's Center can prepare their Thanksgiving feast.

The 2015 Stewardship Campaign has begun, as we seek to raise pledges to support our ministry in 2016.  The theme for this year's campaign is, "To love and serve with gladness and singleness of heart."   Pledge cards should have reached the congregation this week.  We invite you to prayerfully consider how you want to partner with Trinity in 2016 financially and in other ways, as well.  Please visit the stewardship page on our website and view the short video presentation.  You may also fill out your pledge card online by clicking HERE.

Thank you for your support of Trinity, and for being a part of this community.

Peace,
MatthewSignatureGenuine

Stewardship 2015
To Love and Serve with Gladness and Singleness of Heart

Thank you to Becca Pecore for offering a testimonial at the 10 o'clock service on Sunday. And, thank you to those of you who have already made your 2016 pledge. The pledge packets should have arrived in your mailbox this week. Please let Alecia know if you did not receive a packet. Remember that November 8th is Pledge Sunday and all pledges should be made online or, by sending or bringing in your pledge card by that date.  You may fill in a secure pledge card online by clicking HERE.

To learn more about how to prayerfully and thoughtfully consider your 2016 pledge, please visit the online presentation by clicking HERE.  This page also has a link to allow you to fill out your pledge card online.

Youth & Family Ministries Update

This week, Rev. Mary will be on a trip with some of the youth, so Singing Saints OF ALL AGES will rehearse this Sunday beginning at 9:00 am in Angus Hall, as they begin to practice the Christmas Pageant music.  Godly Play and Explorers classes meet as usual at 10:00 am in Trinity Hall.

Because of the annual Peninsula Episcopal Youth trip to Disneyland this weekend (Rev. Mary is accompanying several of our youth on this trip), there will be NO Youth Group this Sunday evening.

We are looking for people who would be interested in being trained as Godly Play teachers.
This is a great way to participate in the spiritual development of our youngest members -- and to enhance your own spiritual formation, as well!  Trinity covers the cost of the training in return for a minimum teaching commitment.  Contact Rev. Mary for more info!

Donor Sabbath @ Trinity on Nov. 15
Noon to 3 pm in Trinity Hall

The Bay Area association of Kidney Patients, in partnership with Trinity, is presenting the movie Perfect  Strangers on November 15 in Trinity Hall beginning at noon.  The movie tells the story of Ellie, who embarks on an unpredictable journey of twists and turns, determined to donate one of her kidneys.  Meanwhile, there is someone 500 miles away from her who endures daily home dialysis while waiting for that perfect kidney match.

November 15 is a national Donor Sabbath, a time to remember and thank all those who have donated the precious organs both in life and in death, and also an opportunity to remind people of the possibility of donating badly needed kidneys as living donors.

Reserve your seat for this event (which includes lunch) by clicking HERE.   If you need child care, please LET US KNOW (it's free!).
November OWLS Meeting
Friday, Nov. 13, 12:00 pm

Everyone is invited to the OWLS luncheon on November 13th at noon, to learn about the dogs and mushers of the Iditarod, the most famous of Alaska's long-distance sled dog races.  Our presenters will be parishioners Margie and Roy Stehle who traveled to Nome last March, to be at the finish line of this great race.  Please let Alecia know if you're planning to attend.

For those of you unable to attend the OWLS luncheon on October 9 (and even for those who did!), you may view the 25 minute documentary, The Story of Jughandle, by  clicking HERE.

Advent Wreath Making & Dinner on Nov 22

Mark your calendars for Sunday, November 22, at 6:00 pm in Trinity Hall.  Everyone is invited to join us for a Church Supper.  Along with our meal, you'll learn about Advent wreaths, how to use them for prayer at home, and you'll be provided materials to make one to take home.  The Advent season begins on Sunday, November 29.  This event will follow our monthly Children's Liturgy, which will take place in the Chapel at 5:05 pm.  Join us!

Outreach Opportunity:  "Christmas" Dinner for Veterans on Dec. 4

For some years now, volunteers from Trinity have helped to provide an early Christmas Dinner for Veterans in our area.  JB Brahy oversaw and coordinated this effort for years.   Now that JB and Gail have moved to Southern California, the baton is being passed to the Outreach Commission.

The dinner will take place on Friday, December 4, from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm at the Peninsula Veterans Center, 345 Middlefield Road, Building 1, in Menlo Park.  For more information, and to volunteer to help, please contact Robert Wendin.

Catherine's Center Thanksgiving Dinner

Once again this year, we are providing recipes and ingredients so that the women of Catherine's Center can prepare a proper Thanksgiving feast.  Beginning this Sunday, you will have the opportunity to sign up to provide a part of the meal.  You provide the ingredients and the recipe, and deliver those to the church by November 24.  We take care of transporting them to Catherine's Center.  The Center women then get to have the fun of both preparing and enjoying the feast.  Thank you for you support!

Christmas Memorials

There are opportunities every Sunday for people to make contributions for flowers and/or music to honor God and give thanks for all sorts of occasions (births, anniversaries or birthdays, memorials to loved ones who have died) or to honor a particular group of folks (the clergy and staff, the Family Ministries Commission, the Altar Guild, etc.). At Christmas, with all the special music and floral decorations, many such memorials can be made by many different people to celebrate the event and help defray the extra cost of the celebrations. If you wish to honor God and give thanks for any special persons or events this Christmas, we encourage you to do so.

Please CLICK HERE to print out the Christmas Memorial Form, and fill it out following the instructions.  Forms should be returned to the Church Office by Sunday, December 6.
