We've all been there. Every December we say to ourselves, "This year will be different! I won't get caught up in the busyness of the season." And yet as positive our intentions are, so many of us feel especially stressed & harried during this season that is all about peace and wonder! Stress can also creep into our work lives as many of us have a significant portion of our revenues occurring in the month of December. How sad that this season of hope can bring such stress, anxiety, and negative emotions! Here are three things that can help all of us celebrate the joy of the season:
Celebrate!
For so many of us, our organizations and ministries are dealing with year-end or end-of-first-quarter results. Instead of focusing on all of what needs to be done - schedule some time for celebrations! It is indeed a perfect time to celebrate the success of what your church, ministry, or organization has done! Consider how your ministry has done "more than they imagined" in pursuing "God-sized' goals and dreams. What a time to express gratitude to God!
Appreciate each person's uniqueness
In this season, we often don't take the time to celebrate the incredible gift of each person in our ministry teams. During Christmas celebrations, ask your team for input on creative ways to honor each person and their own contribution. Bring back the wonder of Christmas by reminding your team members how Christ came down from heaven to be born in a manger - for each one of them.
Recognize your entire team
Christmas is a great time to honor your team as a whole! Share to your team the many ways they met or exceeded their goals and remind them how these goals tie into the organization, ministry, or church goals.
