Shoreline Concert Opportunities

  green dollar signs

Would you like to earn money for your student's Music (Band, Choir, Strings) account? We sell food and beverages during concerts at the Shoreline Amphitheatre, and a percentage of the proceeds will go directly into your child's account. On average a parent can expect to earn from $70-$100 per event. Many parents have funded their child's entire annual fair share contribution by volunteering for some of these events.

If you are interested in an easy way to defray the cost of your fair share contribution, listen to some great music and have a fun time doing it, we are holding informational meetings to let you know about this golden opportunity. It truly is a "Hidden Gem" in our fundraising toolbox, and the proceeds go into your child's account. WIN WIN!

For more information, please attend one of the following short meetings (There is no obligation):

Tuesday, 11/12, 7:30PM, AVHS Band Room

Tuesday, 11/19, 7:30PM, AVHS Band Room

We are looking at building a solid foundation for the 2014 concert season at Shoreline (April - October). There is no obligation if you attend one of our meetings.

If you have further questions or can't attend one of the meetings, feel free to contact Tom Coonce for more information.

MAGNETS

If you purchased an AFM car magnet THIS band season , I have free replacements because the batch we received was too thin and didn't stand up to the weather.  Please see Sally Baker at any band event or send an e-mail to coordinate pick up of your new magnets.  This offer is only good for magnets purchased this season.  If you would like to purchase magnets, I will have them for sale at the same time for $5 each.  I will be in the stand at Dublin this weekend with magnets.

If you received a child's medium sweatshirt in your spirit wear order and were expecting an adult medium, please contact Sally Baker to make the exchange.

SNACKS NEWS

The students always look forward to their hard earned treats on Tuesday nights after band practice! Only 2 more weeks!
Just a reminder - no nuts! Please look carefully at the ingredients on store bought items. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me. Thanks again!

Thanks Again

The end of the season approaches!

After a great performance at the Dublin Invitational, it's time to begin to look to the last stretch of the marching band season.

Please note that over the next couple of weeks there are practices and events that vary from our usual Tuesday/Saturday rotation.

Of special note...

....the Friends & Family Performance at Amador Valley HS on Thursday 11/21.  The gates open for this FREE event at 7:00 pm with the show beginning at 7:30 pm. With performances (in full uniform!) by both the Foothill HS Marching Band and the Amador Valley HS Marching Band, it's a great opportunity to bring family and friends to a wonderful showcase of both of Pleasanton's outstanding marching bands.  It is a night not to miss!

...and Senior Farewells.  On Friday 11/22 the band and color guard will gather in the music building to hear final words of thanks and appreciations from the Marching Dons class of 2014. This event used to be held at the hotel on Saturday night before our final day of competition, but as the band has gotten larger so have the senior classes.  Keeping the kids up late the night before the final performance is not a good choice so having this event Friday after school allows for the seniors to share their final thoughts as Marching Dons and allow the band to get a good night sleep before championships.

  News from RA Land!

The season is flying by!  We have a competition at Logan and then Friends & Family and finally, off to Fresno!! Wahoo!!

I am still in need of additional RA's for both Logan and Friends & Family and really need to get those filled ASAP.  Logan is on Nov 16th and we will be boarding buses for that one.  That requires additional RA's to monitor our buses.  Please join us!!

Our Friends & Family only needs 3 more volunteers and I'm hoping we can fill it with folks that are not working all weekend at Fresno.  Those folks deserve a night off to rest up for our competition weekend.  I'm hoping 3 more of you will step up and help out.

Appreciate all the snack donations that have come in so far but we still need more.  Please see the assignments for Logan in this week's newsletter and CHECK THE NEWSLETTER NEXT WEEK FOR ASSIGNMENTS FOR FRESNO.  WE WILL NEED ALOT OF HELP!!

And finally, if you have medications to turn in for Fresno-I need those ASAP.  PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE DAY WE LEAVE.

As always, I thank all of you that have lent a hand this season.  Our students deserve all the support we can give them.

We continue to gear up to support the band at the Western Band Association competition scheduled the weekend of 23-24 November in Clovis, CA.  We have 3 paid individuals signed up for the pizza dinner that American Stage Tours (our wonderful bus company) is graciously providing for the students on Saturday evening after the preliminary competition.  Parents/siblings/friends/volunteers don't be left out.  For a minimum donation of $5.00/person extra pizzas will be ordered to feed our band family.

Also, 5 families with 14 paid guests signed up for the Senior Banquet & Band Lunch Sunday. We ask for a donation of $10.00 per parent or guest to help defray the costs of the additional meals.

Given there are less than 3 weeks till Champs, please see Marianne or Michael at the Tuesday evening practices or pre-pay by leaving your money with name, phone number and number of pizza or banquet tickets needed in the AFM mailbox located in the band room.

Volunteers are needed for meal (Pizza Dinner / Lunch and Senior Banquet, etc.), snack and cake service for our band members at WBA in Clovis.  We have signups open for coolers, canopies, table cloths, plates and utensils at  Volunteers: Feed the Band at WBA.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.
