GRUBMASTER NOTE

WBA Championships

We are gearing up to support the band at the Western Band Association competition scheduled the weekend of 23-24 November in Clovis, CA. American Stage Tours (our wonderful bus company) is graciously providing a pizza dinner for the students on Saturday evening after the preliminary competition. Parents, siblings, friends and volunteers don't be left out. For a minimum donation of $5.00/person extra pizzas will be ordered to feed our band family.

Also, we have secured catering for the Senior Banquet Sunday and as in years past have extra servings for parents and guests. We ask for a donation of $10.00 per parent or guest to help defray the costs of the additional meals.

Please see Marianne or Michael at the Tuesday evening practices or pre-pay by leaving your money with name, phone number and number of pizza or banquet tickets needed in the AFM mailbox located in the band room.

Volunteers will be needed for meal (Pizza Dinner / Lunch and Senior Banquet, etc.), snack and cake service for our band members at WBA in Clovis. We will also have signups open for coolers, canopies, table cloths, plates and utensils as well. Please check the newsletter next week to see how you can sign up to help the band!

The students always look forward to their hard earned treats on Tuesday nights after band practice! Keep them coming! Just a reminder - no nuts! Please look carefully at the ingredients on store bought items. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to email me. Thanks again!

Foothill Band Review is upon us! Please check either the website or the Charms calendar for itinerary information as well as a detailed map for student drop-off and pick-up at Foothill High School this weekend. I hope there is a big Sea of Purple in the stands cheering on the Marching Dons!

Please note that because of the parade in the morning, students are to be dropped off (or are asked to park) in the Del Valle lot as Main Street will be closed for the parade and the Santa Rita parking lot will be filled with competing bands.

Last item...because it is supposed to be warm on Saturday, students are not required to wear a black shirt to rehearsal. Color Guard should still wear their tank tops. All performers need to wear their marching shoes for rehearsal.

News from RA Land!

This Saturday is the Foothill Band Review and I know we are all looking forward to that after seeing how well our students performed in Gilroy! Remember that whether you are dropping students off or staying to attend or working as an RA, the traffic will be challenging-to say the least. PLEASE allow for plenty of extra time to get to the school and find parking. Even if all you are doing is dropping off students, this will take longer than usual so plan accordingly.

After Saturday, there are 3 more events still to go before Championships in Fresno. There are lots of opening still, to help out at these events. I have RA openings at all 3 of these as well as needing folks to step up and help with all the water bottles we use. Watering our 303 students is quite a task and getting all the appropriate water bottles prepared is a big job. So far this season, this job has primarily been done by ONE PERSON with occasional help. Please help her out and volunteer to prepare our water bottles. It's a very important job to our students.

Amador Friends of Music can earn unlimited funding from Safeway. Yes, beginning in August 2013, the cap of $25,000 on all AVHS group earnings was removed. Sign up and renew your Safeway card today!

In order to continue earning from Safeway, you will need to pay for your groceries with one of the following payment types:

Of course, you can pay for your groceries with a credit card, but your purchases will not generate contributions to Amador Friends of Music.
