Spirit Wear

null

We will be delivering spirit wear orders on Tuesday, September 24th at 8:30 in the stadium.   If you ordered and paid for spirit wear at registration, please come pick it up at the end of rehearsal.  It's a good excuse to come watch the band's final run through and grab your purple.  If you have questions, please e-mail Michelle Ver Kuilan.

Magic of Music!

The Magic of Music is our biggest fundraiser of the year and includes lots of music, silent and live auctions, dinner and dancing.  This will be the 10th annual, held on March 1, 2014.  Our first planning meeting will be Tuesday, October 1st at 7:30pm in the choir room.  We'll be done in time to watch the band's final run through.  If you've helped in the past, please join us again.  If the Magic of Music is new to you, please come check it out.  We have many jobs, big and small and won't make you commit to anything you don't want to do.

Contact  Sally Baker with questions.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

Peter and the Star Catcher

"Peter and the Starcatcher", winner of 5 Tony Awards on Broadway,  is coming to the Curran Theater in San Francisco!  Amador Friends of Music is selling tickets for the first few rows of the balcony for only $60 a piece.  Our show is Wednesday, November 27th at 8pm.  It's the night before Thanksgiving, so bring your friends and family who are visiting for the holiday, it's only a short walk from the BART.  You cannot currently buy these tickets unless you have an SHN membership.  Thanks to the generosity of SHN in San Francisco, AFM can sell these tickets at below market value and make a healthy profit for music at Amador Valley High School!  This show is for all ages and is a theatrical marvel.  I saw it off Broadway and would be happy to see it over and over again.  It's based on the "Peter and the Starcatcher" books by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, but having read these books is not a prerequisite for enjoying this show.  The story is a prequel to the story of Peter Pan.  It's called a "musical play", and while not a traditional musical, it does involve some singing and dancing. You will be amazed at the creativity and stagecraft of this unique show, so get your tickets now.  The best seats will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.  Click here to buy tickets.  There are a limited number of seats and the best go to the first to act.  Questions?  Contact Paul Unpingco.

BAND PICTURES FRIDAY...
Students have band pictures on Friday.  The time frame for the group photo (mandatory) is 3:00-4:00. There is an opportunity for individual and small group photos (optional) on a first come, first serve basis after the group photo is finished.  Order forms are available in the band room.  Yary Photography handles all forms and money for the pictures on the day of the event.

Please make sure to come to school Friday with your uniform in it's garment bag.  Students have been given information in class about hair, make-up and jewelry considerations.

Color Guard members are asked to wear what they wore to the last football game performance for the band photo.

Senior band members will need to stay after the group photo for a very short photo shoot of their individual head shots for championships.

If you have any questions, as always please contact me.

News from RA Land!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all the folks that helped out at the game Friday night!  We had an awesome group of RA's, Road Warriors and uniform inspectors!  There was a lot going on with freshmen learning a whole new part of the band process, everyone learning a new traffic flow, and uniforms getting a final review but it all went amazingly well.  Thank you to everyone for their flexibility in the changes that we have made.  There are more changes coming so hold onto those great attitudes!!

We still have openings to sign up for our 3 remaining football games, our first competition in Gilroy and the Foothill Review. You really don't want to miss any of these events and riding the bus and working the event in Gilroy is extra fun! See links below to get signed up!

Also, we are still in need of some licorice and tootsie rolls being donated for our "after game treats".  We need the big tubs that you can get at Smart and Final.  It's so easy to swing by and pick up a tub or two and send them in with your student to class or practice.

And finally, kudos to our band for an awesome first performance!!  Great start to the season!!
