Peter and the Star Catcher
"Peter and the Starcatcher", winner of 5 Tony Awards on Broadway, is coming to the Curran Theater in San Francisco! Amador Friends of Music is selling tickets for the first few rows of the balcony for only $60 a piece. Our show is Wednesday, November 27th at 8pm. It's the night before Thanksgiving, so bring your friends and family who are visiting for the holiday, it's only a short walk from the BART. You cannot currently buy these tickets unless you have an SHN membership. Thanks to the generosity of SHN in San Francisco, AFM can sell these tickets at below market value and make a healthy profit for music at Amador Valley High School! This show is for all ages and is a theatrical marvel. I saw it off Broadway and would be happy to see it over and over again. It's based on the "Peter and the Starcatcher" books by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, but having read these books is not a prerequisite for enjoying this show. The story is a prequel to the story of Peter Pan. It's called a "musical play", and while not a traditional musical, it does involve some singing and dancing. You will be amazed at the creativity and stagecraft of this unique show, so get your tickets now. The best seats will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Click here to buy tickets. There are a limited number of seats and the best go to the first to act. Questions? Contact Paul Unpingco.

Go Dons!!!

Please check the band calendar for important information regarding this Saturday. Thank you for your flexibility and support of this special event. The band is asked to do dozens of events each year and I politely decline most of them. This was a special one as it is a multi-generational reunion of Amador Valley High School graduates. The oldest attendee is 92 years old! The commitment of time is minimal and the organizing committee has made a generous donation to the band for their involvement.
WINTER CONCERT UPDATES
12/9 Wind Ensemble I Midwest Farewell program has been moved to the Bankhead Theater
12/11 Winter Concert for all other bands has been rescheduled to 1/16 due to scheduling conflicts with the Amador Theater.
Please check the band calendar for the latest updates. The new 1/16 date is for Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble II.

THANK YOU to everyone that has signed up to work at our first football game. Looking forward to a great evening. If you haven't already turned in your volunteer form, make sure you get that completed and sent in with your student ASAP.
Next football game is Sept 27th and is open to signups at this link. Come join the fun!
On Sept 7th, flute and clarinet players will be trimming their gloves in preparation for performing. If your student plays the flute or clarinet we need: a couple of volunteers (must be cleared) to help me oversee the students and several good fabric scissors. Please send scissors in with your student that day.
On Sept 20th, we will be taking Band Pictures. I need a couple of parent volunteers to help me with crowd control. VERY easy duty.
Please let me know if you can help on the 7th or 20th events.

BIB PANTS. Our fantastic crew of volunteers has completed hemming all pants, and the pants are ready to pick up in the Music building lobby. **IMPORTANT: HEMS ARE ONLY TACKED.** (This is on purpose.) Remind students to *FIRST* put their pants on CAREFULLY and *THEN* put their shoes on. Pants may need to be washed prior to the Sept. 13th football game. If pants look uneven or you have any questions or concerns, please email Gale Naylor ASAP.
SHOES. Shoes are here and will be in the Music building lobby with students' names on the boxes starting this week. All shoes should be in the lobby by Tuesday, 9/10.
UNIFORM INSPECTIONS. We still need several people (9/13 and 9/20) to help check numbers of jackets and pants, plus general help along with actual inspections. See LINK
to sign up.
Click on "Uniforms" to go to the webpage for more information.

eScript, etc....
Just a reminder that you will need to RENEW your commitment to the eScrip program by November 1st. A percentage of the contributions from the eScrip program and Raley's will be credited to your student's account. The Lucky S.H.A.R.E.S program goes directly to AFM.
Go to www.escrip to renew, update or register your Safeway card, Gene's card, debit accounts and credit cards to your eScrip account. Our group ID# is 137117495. Take advantage of the eScrip Dining program as well as the eScrip Online Mall.
Safeway's "10% Back to Your School" promotion is currently going on now. AFM can earn up to 10% of purchases of participating product through September 10th. There is no cap to this fundraiser. Safeway's eScrip program caps out at $25,000 for all the organizations at Amador High so AFM stops getting any contributions from Safeway in October/November.
Gene's, which also is part of the eScrip program, and Raley's also have loyalty cards and as of now there is no cap to these programs. I encourage you to obtain another grocery card if you want to receive contributions to your student's account.
Enroll your Raley's Something Extra card at raleys.com/extracredit and designate Amador Friends of Music as your support group. If you already have a card and have registered it, let me know the number so that your student will be credited for your contributions. Feel free to email Doris Lem If you have any questions or need a Lucky S.H.A.R.E.S card. |
