There is a new Head RA in town!!

Hi everyone! My name is Barb Kennedy and I will be the new Head RA starting in the fall. Thought we should get acquainted now as we're already making plans for next year.

First, my student, Jerad, is a sophomore and plays the Bari Sax. So guess I'm here for 2 more years.

Second, I have loved every minute of working with all of you these last 2 years and getting to know your students. I'm looking forward to another great year ahead.

And finally, it's that time of year where we look to get some commitments for next year to help out at Football Games or Competitions. If you have done this before, you know it's simple and very fun! If you haven't worked an event before, come on out! It couldn't be easier to do and it's a great way to get to know other band parents.

During the two weeks of MAY 13-MAY 24, we are running a competition between the classes to see which class can bring in the most volunteer forms. Yes, you can help the band out AND your student by simply completing the PUSD Volunteer Form and returning it. Click HERE to download and print a copy , have your student deliver the completed form to Mr. Grantham.

Whichever class has the most forms turned in, will win an Ice Cream Sandwich party. Hey, it doesn't get better than that!

Thanks in advance for getting those forms in!! See ya soon!

Update on the Raley's Extra card and
 Gene's Fine Food

Contributor account numbers are available on reports for the Raley's Extra card again.  If you have your account number, email me so the quarterly contributions will be credited to your student's account.

If you shop at Gene's Fine Foods, stop by and get its Community Card.  Gene's is part of the eScrip program so up to 5% of your monthly purchases will benefit Amador Friends of Music and your student.  Gene's is running a promotion until May 31 where we can earn an additional 10% from Clover Stornetta Farms or Clover Organic Farms items (excluding milk & eggs).  I have 75 cents coupons available for Clover products if you are interested.  Unlike Safeway that has a cap on contributions to AFM which was reached late last year, Gene's currently has no cap on contributions.

If you have any questions, feel free to email Doris Lem.

AFM receives $5000 Challenge Grant.

Looking for a way to help us leverage our fundraising efforts?

The East Bay Community Foundation has just offered us an excellent opportunity to double our efforts.  They have sent us a Challenge Grant where they will double any monetary contributions during the month of April only, up to $5000.  But we need your help.

If 50 families donate $100 each, or 100 families donate $50 each, we reach our goal.

Still haven't completed your AFM Core/Marching Band/Winter Percussion/Arizona donations?  Send those in this month and your donation will be doubled.

Get the kids in on the challenge as well - Impulse Donations:

  • Buying yourself a latte today?
  • Driving through your favorite fast food joint to pick up a quick meal?
  • Buying another app or song on your iPod?
  • Donate the same amount you spend on yourself with an Impulse Donation to AFM - just give the money to Mr Grantham and he'll make sure it goes towards the Challenge Grant effort
