Wow...what a week!

Please join me in congratulating Amador Valley's Winter Percussion and Winter Guard.  Both groups brought home gold medal championship finishes at their season-ending competitions this past weekend.  These first place finishes cap off the strongest competitive seasons both groups have had in many years!

And in other big news...Amador Valley's Wind Ensemble 1 was chosen by audition to perform at the 67th Annual Midwest Clinic in Chicago, December 2013.  This is arguably the highest honor a school music program can receive.  They are one of just four high school bands chosen from across the country and the first from California to perform at the conference in 11 years.

The conference hosts between 11,000-13,000 attendees each December.  Our performance will shine a national spotlight on not only Amador's music program, but on all of the outstanding achievements at our school.

A's Game deadline approaching Please turn in the necessary form and money for the April 30th Amador band performance of the national anthem at the Oakland A's game by April 19.  The event is open to all band and color guard members.

Upcoming performances
April 16  7:00 pm  PUSD Band Festival (Wind Ensemble 1) @ HPMS
May 10  TBA  - CMEA District Band Festival (ALL concert bands) @ Ygnacio Valley HS

Times will be forthcoming in the next week for the CMEA Band Festival event.  Each group has approximately a 90 minute commitment on that afternoon/evening.  To save on expenses, buses are not chartered for the performance and students are asked to arrange carpools to and from Ygnacio Valley HS (in Concord)

AFM receives $5000 Challenge Grant.

Looking for a way to help us leverage our fundraising efforts?

The East Bay Community Foundation has just offered us an excellent opportunity to double our efforts.  They have sent us a Challenge Grant where they will double any monetary contributions during the month of April only, up to $5000.  But we need your help.

If 50 families donate $100 each, or 100 families donate $50 each, we reach our goal.

Still haven't completed your AFM Core/Marching Band/Winter Percussion/Arizona donations?  Send those in this month and your donation will be doubled.

Get the kids in on the challenge as well - Impulse Donations:

  • Buying yourself a latte today?
  • Driving through your favorite fast food joint to pick up a quick meal?
  • Buying another app or song on your iPod?
  • Donate the same amount you spend on yourself with an Impulse Donation to AFM - just give the money to Mr Grantham and he'll make sure it goes towards the Challenge Grant effort
