Blogging from A to Z
On his blog, "Becoming Minimalist", Joshua Becker writes "15 Reasons I Think You Should Blog". Our favorite might be reason number four:
"You'll develop an eye for meaningful things. By necessity, blogging requires a filter. It's simply not possible to write about every event, every thought, and every happening in your life. Instead, blogging is a never-ending process of choosing to articulate the most meaningful events and the most important thoughts. This process of choice helps you develop an eye for meaningful things."

As a blog reader, the same thing is true! You'll develop an eye for those meaningful blogs -- ones you want to take time to read, and those you can skip over.

We highly recommend reading the blogs written for the A to Z Blogging Challenge, hosted by The Road We've Shared. The challenge is almost half-way through the alphabet already, with the theme, Together We Can Do So Much. You're invited to read about different groups, resources, and advocacy related to the Down syndrome community.

Taking Another Look at World Down Syndrome Day

If you missed the United Nations Conference on March 21st, you can view the recordings anytime right here. The theme, "My Opportunities, My Choices - Enjoying Full and Equal Rights and the Role of Families" produced a truly inspirational day. Start with session 2, moderated by NDSC Vice President, Bret Bowerman!

Improving on Random Acts of Kindness for Next Year
All of the national and international Down syndrome organizations who worked together to promote Random Acts of Kindness and the lighting of the Empire State Building this year were thrilled with the response from the community. We are so excited to continue the campaign in 2016, and can't wait to start promoting it to make it even bigger and better!

21 Quotes
With more than 70 submissions for our 21 Quotes in 21 Days by 21 People with Trisomy 21 campaign, it sure was tough to choose! Take a minute and check out the 21 we were able to use this year.

Go ahead and start collecting those quotes and photos now for 2016! We all know, when you live with someone with Down syndrome, there's another awesome quote around the corner just waiting to be shared...

Reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act

The NDSC has joined 40 other disability advocacy organizations in their commitment to advocate for a "reauthorized Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) that preserves the critical federal protections of that law and builds on the lessons of the past to ensure greater academic progress for all students."

Read the letter written to Senators Alexander and Murray here. You can stay up to date on our efforts in this area by following our Governmental Affairs Facebook page and by signing up for our Governmental Affairs Newsline and Action Alerts here.

NDSC's Senior Policy Advisor on Education, Ricki Sabia, is working hard to advocate for our students with Down syndrome and to keep us informed on this important issue.

Down Syndrome News, An Online Resource For You

Did you receive your Spring copy of Down Syndrome News in the mail? It is now available online, too, so you can easily share it with all of the other important people in your life.

In an article written by Ryan Niemiec, Psy.D., we expand on the idea of "Building a Strengths Mindset"; to stop looking at limitations of our family member with Down syndrome, but to look for for their strengths and to build upon those.

In our article "Where in the World will the NDSC Convention Meet Next?", you'll find out just how we make those decisions to hold our annual convention in Indianapolis one year and Phoenix the next.

You'll also find an uplifting article about our self-advocate board member John T Farley, and the difference he makes to the University of Memphis baseball team. Go Tigers!
