The National Down Syndrome Congress is pleased to announce that Ricki Sabia, J.D. has joined our staff as Senior Education Policy Advisor. She will work closely with our Director of Governmental Affairs, Susan Goodman, J.D., in Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Sabia is an expert in the field of education policy for children with disabilities, and is noted for her advocacy in the in the area of universal design for learning. She was responsible for forming a coalition of more than 30 organizations whose work resulted in the inclusion of universal design for learning in federal legislation. Mrs. Sabia has an extensive background in assessment of individuals with disability.
She will be working on the re-authorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and other education policy issues as they arise.
We welcome Ricki and couldn't be happier about her addition to our advocacy efforts on behalf of children with Down syndrome and other disabilities. You'll have an opportunity to meet Ricki at our convention this June in Phoenix, where she will be a speaker.
