...and the beat goes on...
As challenges remain to solve the nation's fiscal crisis, so do challenges remain to protect critical services for people with disabilities. We have avoided, for now, an 8% cut in domestic programs (i.e., education, work training, transportation, housing). However, challenges loom large as another potential showdown will happen in two months when spending cuts are again scheduled, and the debt ceiling (what the country owes on already incurred debts) must be raised.
The bill passed on January 1st indefinitely extends tax rates on annual family income up to $450,000, raises top capital gains and dividends rates to 20 percent, extends unemployment insurance benefits and includes a number of other tax provisions.

NDSC Governmental Affairs - Down Syndrome Radio

This monthly podcast is recorded by three dads, Mark Owens, Richmond, VA, Jason Cosky, San Diego, CA, and Rick Kosmalski, Bear, DE. It gives the "dad's perspective" on different issues by scheduling various speakers to educate listeners.
