That's what your gift to the Friends of the Conference supports.  Beyond our plans and budgets, the Friends of the Conference assures that the UCC in Massachusetts can take advantage of opportunities that emerge in the changing landscape of ministry - opportunities to enhance the vitality of the ministry of our congregations.

Together we can create a climate that encourages new ideas and funds adaptive responses to the ever-changing context of ministry.

Today, we stand at a critical juncture for our nation, as debates rages across the country about security and the plight of Syrian refugees.  Will we, as Americans, continue to welcome Syrian and Iraqi refugees into our country? Will we assist those suffering from torture and persecution, regardless of their religion, or country of origin? Or will we close our borders, and isolate ourselves in fear?

Disturbing Presence: Incarnate Love

The Rev. Mark Seifried writes: One of the greatest lessons I learned over the last few years was that I cannot separate my life from others - spiritually or emotionally - because we are all connected in more ways that we imagine. If I can ignore your suffering, or worse laugh at your suffering, it's as good as doing it to myself. I've studied Jesus long enough to know that when he said, "Whatsoever you did for the least of my sisters or brothers, that you also did to me," (Matthew 25:40), he wasn't speaking in metaphor or referring to some mystical connection with God.

Although the spirit was somber, a clear message rang out Sunday evening during a vigil at the First Congregational Church for lives lost to addiction - speak out and speak loud.
