Celebrating a World Day of Prayer for creation with the Pope
When Pope Francis called for a World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, to be celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 1, United Church of Christ environmental justice proponents could hardly wait to participate.
The Rev. Jim Antal, Minister and President of the Massachusetts Conference of the UCC, said when the Holy Father released his encyclical, it wasn't "just for Catholics - and neither is the World Day of Prayer for Creation. His Encyclical calls for a 'broad cultural revolution' to confront 'the ecological crisis' - or to say it another way, 'to change everything we need everyone,'"

The Stories We Carry: New American Neighbors in Greater Springfield and Beyond Art for the Soul Gallery, Springfield, MA Sept. 11 - 25
Members of the award-winning High School of Commerce Photography Club in Springfield have been photographing refugee families from the Greater Springfield area. This collaborative event presented by the Western Massachusetts Refugee and Immigrant Consortium and Art for the Soul Gallery not only tells the stories of area refugees and immigrants, but it could be an important educational experience and conversation prompter.
