Welcome

Dear All,
The MTTC is pleased to announced that this afternoon the Governor signed House Bill 4377 - An Act promoting economic growth across the Commonwealth. The Bill includes $2 million in funding for an Innovation Commercialization Seed Fund to be managed by the MTTC. This funding will be used to support Proof of Concept projects and will be awarded to researchers on a competitive basis. Proof of Concept funding has been shown to be an important catalyst in moving inventions out of the lab and into start-up companies. We will be updating you soon on the MTTC's plans for the competitive solicitatyion for the disbursement of these funds. This funding also ensures that the MTTC will continue to be able to offer other support services to inventors at Massachusetts institutions who want to start new companies.
The MTTC would like to thank the many business organizations and MATTO members who supported the MTTC in securing this funding.
The MTTC Team - Abi, Julia, Michele and Barbara

Allied Minds and Bristol Myers to start 10 new biotechs in next five years To date Allied Minds has founded 29 startups, 20 of which are still active. While about half of those startups have been in the life sciences the company has avoided biotechs because of the high cost of conducting clinical trials. The partnership with BMS, called Allied-Bristol Life Sciences LLC, is intended to change that. Silva said it will draw on discoveries at all 33 of the universities and 32 government agencies with which the company works nationwide.
