These awards allow researchers and company founders to show the commercial viability of their technologies and secure further funding. See story below for more details.

Catalyst Awards MTTC, in conjunction with MassCEC, awarded five $40,000 grants to entrepreneurs with promising clean energy technologies in MA: Refresh Water, Building Envelope Materials, Loci Controls, Inc., Energy Intelligence, and Martin Bazant/Cullen Buie from MIT. The Early-Stage Life Sciences Technology Conference X is a showcase for platform life sciences technologies developed at the universities, research institutions, and hospitals of Massachusetts and for recently formed Massachusetts companies. Companies that have presented at our first nine Early Stage Life Sciences Conferences have raised over $250 million in new investments.

Abi Barrow, MTTC Director, recently revised the MTTC Investor Pitch Template. This PPT includes master slides as well as notes and suggestions garnered from coaching hundreds of entrepreneurs. A tester of the new template noted "...the first version was very helpful, this [updated] one is fantastic - very clear, much more concrete. CAMTech $100,000 Innovation Awards With support from the Bacca Foundation and the Omidyar Network, the Center for Global Health is pleased to announce the next round of Innovation Awards to accelerate innovative technologies to improve health outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. Practically Green Raises $2.5 Million in Equity Capital
Practically Green, a presenter at the Global Cleantech Meetup 2013, a privately held, Boston-based provider of online content and services that encourage people to make healthy and eco-friendly choices, has raised $2.5 million of equity investment, according to a new SEC filing by the company. Investors in the company include CommonAngels, the Boston area angel investment group. Founded in 2010, Practically Green offers expert content with social and game mechanics for users to accrue points, track their progress, and gain recognition for the positive steps they take in regards to their health and environmentally sustainable behavior. The company previously raised $750,000 seed funding round followed by an additional $1 million round in early 2012. http://www.practicallygreen.com
New Catalyst Awardee and Platform Participant among latest TechStar class in Boston.TechStar Boston recently announced their latest class. The new class of 12 companies includes Catalyst Awardee Refresh as well as ecoVent whose founders recently participated in the MTTC's Platform program. More details
Drizly Raised $2.25 million of Seed Capital
Drizly, the provider of an alcohol order delivery iPhone app, has raised $2.25 million of seed capital, the company announced on Wednesday. Founded by three classmates from Boston College in 2011, Drizly currently offers beer, wine and liquor delivered to customers' doorsteps in New York City and Boston. The company's turnkey offering provides retail stores a way to offer "convenient, and responsible on-demand liquor delivery." Investors in the company include Atlas Ventures, through an AngelList syndicate, among them Abundance Partners, Breakaway Ventures, Continental Advisors, Fairhaven Capital and Reynolds & Company Venture Partners, and a group of individual entrepreneurs.
