My favorite mantra is "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change."  This ancient jewel of wisdom is one of the many universal principles that is as true in the arts as in human psychology.  In music, one way we can change the way we hear a melody is to transpose it to another key.  In painting, we can transpose from the local color to any number of color schemes.

As I always say at the end of each of your video lessons, your creativity is only limited by the limits you put on it yourself.  In our new series, I explore four different ways we can look beyond the obvious and bring new life to our paintings by transposing the colors of our subject.
