Composing and Drawing Tip of the Week.
|
|
For the past four weeks we've been addressing tangents, those sneaky space thieves that can slip themselves into a painting while we are innocently attending to other things. There's a tangent species that appears in three places in the photo below. Can you spot all three?
Here are two more versions of the same culprit.
Tip: The corners of a rectangle or square are points of strong tension. If they are isolated or if images are growing out of them, they become separate from the rest of the piece.
The culprits numbered 1 have isolated corners, numbers 2 and 3 have images growing out of the corners.
Happy painting,
Dianne
P. S. On the Facebook forum, last week's challenge was electric. Check in on Facebook for a new challenge every Monday. The challenge lasts all day Monday and the answers are posted on Tuesday.
P.P.S. My new book, Finding Freedom to Create, is receiving an overwhelming response. You can find it on Amazon or Barnes & Noble in softcover, hardcover and ebook formats.
