Dr. Jonathon Jaqua joins Southdale Ob/Gyn

Southdale Ob Gyn is very excited to announce Dr. Jon Jaqua is joining the group in September.  Dr. Jaqua (pronounced Jake-Way) received his B.S. in Human Biology from Minnesota State University at Mankato in 2005.  He attended Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, IA. He then completed his residency at the University of Minnesota in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health. .  Dr. Jaqua served as a medic in the Minnesota Army National Guard during a seven-month deployment to Bosnia in 2003, which inspired him to pursue a degree in medicine. .  He continues to serve in the Minnesota National Guard as a Captain and Battalion Surgeon.  His desire to take care of his patients as a whole, from primary care, to surgery, to maternity care, led to his choice of Ob Gyn as his specialty.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

We are proud of Megan Coleman, a lab team member at Southdale OB Gyn, for her volunteer work with Metavivor.  Metavivor is an organization dedicated to support women and men with Stage 4 breast cancer.  They are the sole US organization dedicated to raising public awareness and research specific to Stage 4 breast cancer.   Megan's involvement was spurred by her mother's (Marsha Coleman) diagnosis of Stage 4 breast cancer in February of 2010. Megan, as well as her two older sisters, were dedicated caregivers to their mother.  Marsha's battle with Stage 4 breast cancer ended in June of 2013 at the age of 51.

Please Visit http://www.metavivor.org/ to learn more about Stage 4 breast cancer, and how you can support Metavivor.
